👘 For those who aren’t aware, recently it was brought to light that Kim Kardashian had made a shape-wear with the name of “Kimono”. After much backlash, there is news that she will be changing the name of her company.
Those of us from JSA would like to show you guys current and former member along with friends and family in their kimonos. Our hope is to educate people on the traditional clothing of Japan, and how it shouldn’t be stolen and culturally appropriated.
For those that do not know, a Kimono is a traditional Japanese garment worn for special events. For more information on the history of Kimono’s, I highly recommend you do a quick search on google for the history!
As UB’s JSA, we would like to apologize to any of those who were hurt by the naming of Kim Kardashians clothing company. Know that many of us were highly disappointed in the name and actively spoke against it!
We hope to meet many new and old faces this coming fall!!
Finally, thank you Kim Kardashian for changing the name of your company.

JSA 3rd GIM: Dance with JSA W 9/20 7-9PM @SU210 ・ We are going to teach you how to dance one of the most famous traditional folk songs of Japan called Soran Bushi. It was a work song for herring fisherman. BUSHI is a term in Japanese we use to describe folk songs and SORAN has no literal translation, but saying "Soran! Soran!" was a way of keeping time. Soran Bushi is still popular across the country since elementary and junior high school students often learn it at school. Essentially the song has helped Japanese people stay together. Let's dance with us and truly immerse yourself in Japanese culture🇯🇵 ・ ・ ・ #jsa #japan #japanese #ub #universityatbuffalo #buffalo #newyork #college #club #friends #fun #instagood #dance #music #followus #日本 #大学生 #留学 #アメリカ留学 #海外生活
