Honey Sesame Chicken
Ingredients
Chicken Marinade:
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 egg
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper to taste
Sauce:
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
For Frying:
Vegetable oil (for deep-frying)
For Garnish:
Toasted sesame seeds
Chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
Marinate and Coat the Chicken:
In a large bowl, whisk the egg with salt and pepper. Add the chicken pieces and mix to coat.
In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and flour. Add the coated chicken pieces to this dry mixture and toss until evenly coated.
Fry the Chicken:
Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet or deep pan over medium-high heat.
When the oil is hot, carefully add the coated chicken pieces in batches. Fry for about 4–5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the chicken pieces and drain them on a paper towel.
Prepare the Sauce:
In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, and water.
In a small cup, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry.
Combine Chicken and Sauce:
In a large skillet or wok, pour the sauce mixture and heat over medium heat. Once it starts to simmer, add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
Add the fried chicken to the skillet and toss to coat the pieces in the sauce evenly.
Serve:
Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Serve hot with steamed rice or vegetables.
Enjoy your homemade honey sesame chicken!
