I may not imprint on my foals the second they are born but they do grow into friendly, confident, happy foals that also know how to respect boundaries. They live in a herd and develop those all important skills that sometimes only a mare can teach.

Not every ride is going to be perfect. Lola was a little resistant to move forward and just felt a little off. So instead of forcing her to stick to my agenda I cut the ride short, hosed her off and turned her back out. The training process is definitely a long and slow one with many ups and downs.

Lola is back out with the herd after living next to them for a while for a smooth transition. She has a lot of self confidence since she’s returned and she has apparently really missed her daily water rolls. It’s the first thing she went for when I turned her out.

This moment has been a dream in the making for years but a mind shift as well. I went from thinking I was a failure if I didn’t do every step with Lola to finding a local trainer whose training aligned with my goals. It’s okay to grow the team around you and I am so incredibly grateful that I have.

And yes I do absolutely love my English tack even if my goals do include the Ruby Buckle lol. Welcome to the next phase of the dream where I can now include some training moments alongside the breeding. 🤗
