First day of 4th grade for Jacob!

The first day of school has never been an easy transition for him. After being home all summer, getting back into a routine, a new classroom and new teachers can be a lot. Some years, just getting through that first morning has been an accomplishment.

This year was different. He actually posed for a picture, jumped out of the car and ended up having an awesome first day.

Itā€™s a big year for him too. This is his first year going to school for the full day, and then heā€™ll head to Balance Autism in the evenings.

One thing farming teaches you is patience. Growth takes time, every season brings change and sometimes you donā€™t realize how far youā€™ve come until you stop and look back.

Today felt like one of those days. Weā€™re pretty proud of this kid.

NOW HIRING: HAUNTED HOLLOW LEAD

Beckman Heritage Farms is looking for a dependable, experienced and hospitality-minded leader to take a hands-on role in Haunted Hollow for the 2026 season.

This is a leadership position ā€” not a scare-actor position. Separate hiring for scare actors and seasonal support staff will take place in September.

What Youā€™ll Do

* Help interview, select, schedule and manage our scare team
* Lead actor training, walkthroughs and rehearsals
* Manage attendance, assignments, breaks and call-offs
* Collaborate with the owners on storylines, scenes and scares
* Assist with attraction setup, scene construction, props, lighting, sound and effects
* Conduct pre-opening walkthroughs and team meetings
* Lead Haunted Hollow operations each night
* Monitor guest flow, safety and the overall guest experience
* Troubleshoot issues and confidently make decisions during operations
* Oversee nightly shutdown and closing procedures

Schedule

September: Variable and flexible hours for planning, interviews, attraction setup, training and rehearsals.

October: Every Friday and Saturday night, approximately 4:30/5 PMā€“12:30 AM. Availability for all operating nights is required.

Who Weā€™re Looking For

Dependability is essential. This position requires someone who will make a firm commitment to the season, arrive on time, communicate consistently, follow through and confidently take charge when needed.

Preferred candidates will have demonstrated experience leading and supervising people, scheduling staff and managing day-to-day operations.

Experience in hospitality, event management, theater, live entertainment, haunted attractions or similar guest-facing operations is strongly preferred.

Haunted-attraction experience is not required for an otherwise qualified candidate with strong leadership and management experience.

An enthusiasm for Halloween, haunted attractions and creating memorable experiences is a definite plus.

Working Conditions

* Primarily outdoors in varying fall weather and temperatures
* Work takes place after dark with limited lighting
* Frequent walking and standing for extended periods
* Uneven terrain, grass, trails and natural outdoor surfaces
* Must be comfortable working outdoors through late-night hours

Above all, weā€™re looking for someone who can lead a team while maintaining a safe, professional and memorable experience for our guests.

Pay: $20/hour

šŸŒ¾ A Quick Team Update

Our event coordinator recently had to relocate due to a career opportunity, and we wish them all the best in their next chapter.

As we make this transition, weā€™re looking for a Part-Time Event & Operations Manager to join the Beckman Heritage Farms team.

This is a hands-on, seasonal position supporting our weddings and busy fall season. Seasonal availability is a must. During the off-season, much of the work can be done remotely and includes following up with leads, communicating with couples, managing bookings, and helping prepare for upcoming events.

Weā€™re looking for someone dependable, organized, energetic, and comfortable working both independently and hands-on when needed.
