Knox County: How many more solar farms do we need before someone listens?

That's rainwater sitting ankle deep by the Wheatland substation with nowhere to go, and it shouldn't be there. This road should have proper drainage. Soil and Water certified this project had it. This is what that certification is worth.

This isn't bad luck. This is what happens when a county board takes a solar company's word over its own residents' eyes. You heard a sales pitch, you cashed the promise of tax dollars, and you rubber-stamped a project that is now failing exactly the way anyone paying attention warned it would.

And here's the worst part, you're not stopping. All 3 of you are guilty for this coming in. Not one of you carry a backbone strong enough to say no in order to protect the people you swore you would. You're still approving more of these projects, using the same broken process, trusting the same empty promises, while the one already built sit there flooding roads and land.

Those tax dollars you're so proud of? They're worthless if we have to spend them mopping up after the companies you let walk in here unchecked. That's not revenue. That's a liability you signed us up for. Read that again, a LIABILITY that YOU signed us all up for.

Knox County residents deserve a government that inspects before it approves, not one that takes a signature on a form as good enough and calls it done. Right now, we don't have that. We have officials asleep at the wheel while our roads turn into retention ponds, and continue to degrade.

Do your jobs. Inspect these sites. Hold these companies to what they put in writing. Stop approving new projects until you've cleaned up the mess from the last ones.
