I thought it was time to introduce myself and share the story behind LMP Homestead & Kitchen, because the name means far more to me than just three letters.
Iโm Haley, a wife to Landon, mama to Hadley and Ryder, and the person behind LMP Homestead & Kitchen.
But the story of LMP really began long before me. LMP stands for Lila Mozelle Penland โ my grandmother. ๐ค
Everything I know and love about being in the kitchen today started with her. From cornbread and chicken casserole to chocolate gravy, so many of the foods I make carry a memory, a lesson, or a little piece of something she taught me. She taught me more than recipes.
My love for sewing came from her. My appreciation for doing things the old-fashioned way came from her. And most importantly, so much of the heart I have for loving, feeding, and taking care of my family came from watching her.
As Iโve gotten older and started raising a family of my own, Iโve realized that those ordinary moments werenโt so ordinary after all. Standing in a kitchen, learning a recipe without realizing I was learning it. Watching hands that had made the same meal hundreds of times. Seeing how food could bring an entire family to the table. Learning that sometimes loving your family looks like a warm meal, something sewn by hand, or simply taking the time to care for the people around you. Those are the things I want to hold onto. And thatโs why I created LMP Homestead & Kitchen.
Itโs my way of honoring Mamaw Penland and carrying a little piece of what she gave me into the next generation.
Today, youโll find me baking breads and cookies, putting together old-fashioned mixes, sewing, trying new recipes, and continuing to learn along the way. But behind everything I make is the same idea: Keep the old ways alive. Feed your family well. Make things with your own two hands. And never forget where you came from.
One day, I hope Hadley and Ryder look back and realize that the things they watched Mama do in the kitchen werenโt just about making supper or baking bread. They were watching a legacy continue. ๐ค
So when you see those three little letters โ LMP โ know there is a whole lot of love and history behind them. They belong to the woman who taught me so much of what I know today. And I couldnโt think of a better name to put on the things I make. ๐พ๐ค
