🌾 A Little Pause at the Farm 🌾

Friends,

The recent flooding left significant damage to our pastures, fences, and farm road. While we're incredibly grateful that our family, home, and cattle are safe, we need a little more time to clean up and make repairs.

Because of this, we will not be offering milk, yogurt, granola, eggs, or other farm goods for the next week.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and patience as we work through the aftermath. We're spending our days clearing debris, repairing fences, and restoring the farm one step at a time.

We'll keep you updated and look forward to serving you again soon.

Until then, you'll find us in muddy boots, grateful for safe cattle, a dry home, and the opportunity to rebuild.

Please pray for our little dairy farm. We’ve been hit with devastating floods.

By the grace of God, we were able to round up all of our cattle, and they’re now safe on higher ground with hay in front of them, happily chewing cud. Our family is safe, well fed, and our home was spared — and for that, we are deeply grateful.

Now begins the hard part: clearing pastures, repairing fences, and repairing our cozy little barn. It’s heartbreaking to see so much damage, but we know the Lord is faithful, and we’ll keep putting one muddy boot in front of the other.

We appreciate every prayer, kind word, and bit of support more than we can say. 🤍

Good morning from Bybee Mountain Farm 🤍🐄

One thing about me — I’ve always been a tester.

I was the kid striving for A’s, graduated college with honors (nerd alert 🤓), and was accepted into a highly competitive pediatric nurse practitioner program after rigorous testing and interviews.

So it probably makes sense that I care a whole lot about milk testing too.

Over the last several months, we’ve organized a small on-farm lab and now regularly run bacterial quality tests right here on the farm using Charm Peel Plates, in addition to outside laboratory testing. These on-farm tests (including Standard Plate Count and coliform testing) give us a helpful, ongoing picture of milk quality and hygiene right at the source.

In simple terms, they help confirm that our milk is being produced, handled, and stored in a way that supports very low bacterial counts and minimizes any opportunity for harmful growth.

Cocke Co. is so lucky, because in addition to the most lush amazing scenery and access to the most beautiful national park, we have been blessed with such great farmers and homesteaders who grow and cultivate delicious and nourishing food. Thank you to Hyssop Haven Homestead for the most moist and yummy chicken! We popped four of those delicious birds in our oven roaster with salt and garlic - within a few hours we had a delicious meal for our hungry, hard workin' farm kiddos ❤️ If you haven't checked them out yet, we highly recommend them! They raise their Freedom Rangers right, and it shows in the taste and texture of the meat 😍

The quiet in-between moments on the farm are usually my favorite 🥛

Fresh milk headed to be filtered before making its way into jugs for families this week. Simple work, done carefully, every single day.

The sound of warm milk filling the tote never really gets old. ❤️
