🌽 One step closer to popping up in your bowl! 🍿

Our popcorn has reached what farmers call “black layer,” which means the kernels are physiologically mature.

See that little dark spot at the base of the kernel? That’s the black layer we’re looking for. 👀

Right now, the kernels are still too wet to combine — and definitely too wet to pop! But they don’t need any more water. They just need time to naturally dry down in the field.

Once they reach the right moisture, it’ll be time to fire up the combine and start bringing in the 2026 crop. 🌽

Meanwhile, we’re counting down the days until harvest! ⏳🍿

Thanks to everyone who took a guess!

The answer is…

🥁 About 144,000 bowls of popped popcorn can come from just ONE average acre!

Here’s the math: An average acre yields around 6,000 lbs. of popcorn, with about 24 servings per pound. If we call a 3-cup serving a bowl, that’s roughly 144,000 bowls — or an incredible 432,000 cups of popped popcorn! 🤯

Of course, every year is different. Weather, growing conditions, and yield all play a role, but it’s amazing to think about just how much popcorn can come from a single acre.

That’s why every acre matters on our family farm. From planting in the spring to harvest in the fall, there’s a lot of care behind every kernel that ends up in your popcorn bowl.

📣 Slight Change to Our Shop Hours This Week!

As we get ready to deliver popcorn to the Nebraska State Fair, we’re shifting our shop hours this week.

🗓 Open Tuesday
🕘 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

(Instead of our usual Wednesday hours.)

If you need to stock up on popcorn, seasonings, gifts, or popcorn supplies, we’d love to see you Tuesday!

Thanks for your understanding, and wish us luck as we get everything ready for the fair! 🌽🍿
