What a way to wrap up our kidding season 🐐✨

Last night around 8:30, Star decided one baby just wasn’t enough… and surprised us with TWINS!

We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Mama is doing great and taking care of her babies like a pro. We’ve got one healthy little buckling and one sweet doeling 💙🩷

And here’s the fun part…
👉 The buckling was born with waddles
👉 The doeling came out with a big moon spot

Safe to say they both showed up with some personality 😏

We’re planning to keep both for now, but we are considering letting the little buckling go to a good home.

Well… that was one full weekend on the homestead.

Weston got his first-ever crawfish boil 🦞
And honestly… I think he had just as much fun playing with them as he did eating them 😂

With spring finally showing up like it means it, we jumped into some early planting 🌱
Most of our garden starts from seed, but we still love supporting local when we can.

👉 AW Shrubs came through big for us
Locally sourced plants, great prices… hard to beat that.
(And if you go… don’t leave without grabbing some Mel’s Mudd Coffee And Espresso ☕ — easily one of the best around.)

But apparently, plants weren’t enough chaos for one day…

So naturally… we added chicks 🐥
Blue Copper Marans
Black Copper Marans
Speckled Sussex

Because what’s a peaceful weekend without more mouths to feed, right?

Then we remembered…
Strawberries are in season 🍓

So off to Barnhill Orchards we went, and let me tell you… sweet, fresh, and worth every second.

Back home, we got to planting — even added a new mayhaw tree 🌳
(And of course Weston had to personally inspect the hole before anything went in it… quality control matters.)

And just when we thought the weekend was winding down…

We went out to milk Bell 🐐
…and surprise, Wendy had her baby!

Y’all… she is ADORABLE.
Even has a couple of moon spots.

And by some miracle, Wendy is already being a better mom than Bell ever was…
which means no around-the-clock bottle feeding this time 🙌

God is good.

Have you ever stopped and wondered… is this really the life I’m supposed to be living?

We’ve asked that question too.

And somewhere along the way, we realized something simple…
this life isn’t something you wait to be sure about.
It’s something you "step into."

Because the truth is, life isn’t found in the rush.
It’s not in the noise, the pressure, or chasing what everyone else says matters.

It’s in the quiet moments.
The deep breaths.
The dirt on your hands.
The sound of laughter echoing across a yard.
The feeling that… for just a second… everything is exactly how it’s supposed to be.

This life we’ve been given? It’s a gift.
Not a perfect one. Not always an easy one.
But a "real" one.

And in our opinion… slowing down, being present, and truly living it
has been more fulfilling than anything we’ve ever known.

So if you’ve been questioning it…
maybe that’s your sign to stop waiting.

Just do it.
Enjoy it.
Breathe it.
Live it.

Because one day, these “ordinary” moments
are going to be the ones you miss the most.

🌊 When Obedience Leads Into the Storm 🌊

Last week we talked about being exhausted in obedience to the Lord… but what does that really mean?

I think it comes down to 4 simple stages:
1. Obedience
2. Trust (the root of obedience)
3. Surrender (the cost of obedience)
4. The fruit of obedience

Let’s look at Matthew 14:22–33 — the story of Jesus walking on water.
You’ve heard it before… but maybe not like this 👇

⚓ 1. Obedience — Getting in the boat

Jesus told the disciples to get in the boat.

So they did.

Then the storm hit.

Let that sink in…
They weren’t in trouble because they disobeyed —
they were in the storm because they obeyed.

We tend to think obedience should make life easier…
But Scripture shows the opposite.

Sometimes obedience puts you right where your faith gets tested.

👉 “Jesus told me to get in the boat… so I did.”

🌊 2. Trust — Stepping out of the boat

In the middle of the storm, they see Jesus walking on water…

…and they panic.

Even when God is moving toward us, fear of the unknown takes over.

But Jesus says,
“Do not be afraid.”

Peter responds:
“Lord, if it’s you… tell me to come to you.”

Jesus says one word:
“Come.”

And Peter steps out.

Into the storm.
Into the chaos.
Onto water he shouldn’t be able to stand on.

👉 Trust says: If Jesus calls me, I can step where I shouldn’t be able to stand.

🤲 3. Surrender — Letting Jesus catch you

Then Peter notices the wind… the waves…

…and he starts to sink.

Even Peter — the only one who stepped out — struggled when the storm got louder than Jesus.

He cries out:
“Lord, save me!”

And immediately… Jesus grabs him.

No delay.
No lecture.
Just a hand.

👉 Surrender is realizing you can’t keep yourself afloat.

🔥 4. The Fruit of Obedience

When they get back in the boat, the wind stops.

And the disciples say:

“Truly you are the Son of God.”

The storm produced something the calm never could.

👉 It produced revelation.

⚠️ Takeaway:

The disciples were safer in the storm with Jesus
than on dry land without Him.

Sometimes the storm is exactly where you’re meant to be.

What a Monday it was here on the homestead.

The day started with a doctor’s appointment where we got to see baby Sutton again. The resemblance between her and her brother is honestly uncanny. Some strong family genes at work there.

After we got home, Austin and Weston made a run to grab hay. If you're anywhere around Central Arkansas, you really can’t beat the customer service at Diamond J Farm & Home in Beebe. Walking in there just feels like home.

While the boys were gone, I figured I’d get ahead for the week and knocked out a few meals:
• Sausage, peppers & onions
• Cowboy tortellini
• Chicken tetrazzini
• Fresh 30-minute rolls from scratch
• Stew in the crock pot for dinner

Not a bad way to spend a Monday afternoon.

Now we’re just waiting on one of our Nigerian Dwarf does, who should be kidding any day now. Unfortunatley, she’ll probably decide to go into labor while we’re both at work. That seems to be the homestead way.

Let’s say a little prayer for a quick and easy delivery for mama and baby.

Some days this homesteading life almost feels like work…

…just kidding. We love every bit of it.

"What a blessing it is to be exhausted in obedience to a calling God gave you." Something we have been blessed to notice here on the homestead.

So many people spend their lives chasing what they think will fulfill them. Success. Comfort. Approval. The problem is those things never truly satisfy.

Jesus warned about this in John 6:27: “Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life.”

Everything the world offers eventually fades. That’s why people can seem to have everything and still feel empty.

But Jesus also said in John 10:10: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Following Christ doesn’t mean losing life. It means finding the life we were actually created for.

That life won’t always be easy. Serving God takes effort. It takes sacrifice. Sometimes it leaves you physically and spiritually exhausted.

Colossians 3:23 reminds us: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord.”

There’s a big difference between being tired from chasing the world and being tired from serving God.

One drains you. The other fulfills you.

Anyone can be exhausted chasing temporary things.

But what a blessing it is to be exhausted doing the work God called you to do.

There’s a unique peace and fulfillment that comes from living a slower, simpler life focused on Him. Life becomes truly amazing when you discover and step fully into the work God has uniquely called you to do.

Homestead Update! 🌿

We took a little road trip today and came home with a new member of the homestead… everyone meet Nutmeg! 🐐 She’s a beautiful Nubian doe and we’re pretty excited to have her here.

While we were out, we also stopped by an awesome western store called Bar O Feed & Ranch Supply in Clinton, Arkansas. If you're ever in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out.

Back at home, we jumped right back into homestead mode. We started cleaning out some garden beds and got some onions planted before this last frost decides to show up.

And for the Weston, baby goat update…
He has officially made a new best friend. The baby goat he has now named Sugar has decided Weston is her favorite human, and the feeling seems pretty mutual. Safe to say we may have a lifelong farmhand in training. 🐐👦

Days like this remind us how thankful we are for this little slice of land God gave us. Simple days, fresh air, animals, dirt under your fingernails, and kids growing up in the middle of it all.
