McCormick Reds

Registered Red Angus cattle operation in southeastern Minnesota run by Paul and Jackie McCormick. Our focus is breeding fundamentally sound Red Angus cattle.

Fertility, mothering ability, structural soundness, fleshing ability, temperament, and optimal mature cow size are fundamentals in our herd. Once a fundamentally sound female is in place we focus on optimizing weaning and yearling performance. We believe a fundamentally focused breeding program gives our commercial customers the greatest opportunity to be profitable in any market condition.

We snapped a few pictures this weekend of bred heifers and bull calves sired by Rushmore. He has consistently stamped his calves with boldness of rib, muscle density, and softness of body. His sons are stout and masculine, while his daughters stay feminine and refined.

We're excited to see his first daughters calve this spring, including the two pictured!

🔸 These two bred heifers will be available this fall through our private treaty female offering.
🔸 The bull calves will be offered next spring.

The whole family is happy to have the bulls home!

The bull calves got weaned this past weekend!

Fortunately, they gave me a reason to go up one of our hills tonight. 😉

Rushmore x MR Brandi 405 (Blueprint x Township). We love the body and fleshing ability that Rushmore is transmitting!

Weaning is fast approaching!

We’re excited about this set of calves and, as we wrap up the weaning process, our focus will quickly turn to organizing our 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙮 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙚.

We’ll have 10–15 young bred females available this fall, and we wanted to give those interested a first look at how the sale will work:

• 𝙈𝙞𝙙-𝙊𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧: Previous buyers and those who have visited our herd will have the first opportunity to purchase.
• 𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩: Sale information and available females will be shared on social media.
• 𝙇𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙊𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧/𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙉𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧: Mailers and additional advertising will be sent out.

We’re proud of this group of females and are excited to offer them to new and returning customers.

If you’re interested in learning more, would like to schedule a visit, or want to be added to our list for sale information, reach out to us anytime!

We’d love to have you take a look at the herd.

Unfortunately, we lost Rushmore this spring after he broke his leg prior to turnout and had to be put down.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who invested in this herd sire. We appreciated the opportunity to bring him back home and watch him develop. His first two calf crops have not disappointed.

His first sons led off the Rhodes Red Angus bull sale this spring, with RREDS Jet N5165 being the high-selling bull that day.

While Rushmore is gone, his influence is just beginning. There is a limited semen supply, and we look forward to continuing to use his genetics and watching his impact grow through his sons and daughters.

We’re thankful for what Rushmore contributed to our program and are excited to see what his genetics will do for years to come.

Don’t mind the birthmark — this March-born calf was really looking the part tonight. 👌

🔥 The Roll On sire group is one we’re excited to offer this year.

Roll On combines the structural soundness and maternal strength of the Lakota cow family with the performance and muscle of Let’s Roll. Those traits helped make him the high-selling bull of the 2023 Rhodes Red Angus Bull Sale, where he sold to Chandler Cattle Co. and York Creek Red Angus.

His sons in this year’s sale offering bring calving ease, balanced performance, and maternal integrity. If you’re looking for cattle that can improve udder quality, add structural balance, and strengthen the fundamentals that matter, be sure to study the Roll On sons.

The Testify sons — Lot 59 & Lot 60

We want to share a little about the cow side behind these two bulls.

Lot 59
Traces back to the Lakota cow family — the same family that produced the high-selling bull in the 2023 Rhodes Red Angus Bull Sale, RREDS MR Roll On 229.

The Lakota cows are known as udder improvers. His dam, 208, is a SAV Renovation granddaughter that has calved first cycle on her first three calves. She is balanced, feminine, and beautifully designed.

Lot 60
Backed by a powerhouse female. His dam, 9003, is a 3/4 sibling to the dam of Rushmore and has calved first cycle on her first six calves.

Production highlights include:
• Highest actual weaning weight bull in 2024
• Highest adjusted yearling weight bulls in 2022 & 2023

She is fertile, moderate made, and productive.

When you study these Testify sons, remember the strength behind them starts with the cows.
