We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the farm next weekend April 26-27 for the Washington County Fiber Tour! Come meet the new lambs and goat kids, chat about fiber and farming, and grab a bite to eat from Round House (delicious food including wood fired pizzas!).
All stops on the tour will be open from 10-4 both days- it’s a free family friendly event, and a great way to get out and explore local farms and learn about fiber production!
We hope to see you there!

Erik picked up this strand of ELEVEN balloons out of the hayfield this afternoon. They were losing helium and would have been essentially invisible in another few hours, and then stood a good chance of getting mowed, raked and baled in the dense grass to be potentially eaten by a cow, horse or goat this winter. This is often fatal to the animal, causing intestinal blockage or choking. With the long strings wound right into the bale, an animal may not even realize what it’s consuming until it’s too late.

Please, on behalf of not only livestock but wildlife, skip the balloons when you’re decorating for your party this summer! Releasing balloons, whether accidental or intentional, is littering, plain and simple—and it can truly have deadly consequences.

For our readers who want receipts, here a few articles about the effect of balloons on both livestock and wildlife:

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by to visit us during the WASHINGTON COUNTY FIBER TOUR and Washington County Art & Ag Tour over the past few weekends!
We had a wonderful time chatting with new friends and neighbors - Chocolate Chip (the tiny goat) expanded his fan club, and Hope & Feathers (our welcome committee lambs) enjoyed all of the attention immensely. We’ll be sharing more events soon, but in the meantime the farm store is open by appointment (we’re always around, just not always at the store).

We had beautiful weather for day 1 of the WASHINGTON COUNTY FIBER TOUR and will be open again tomorrow (Sunday) from 10-4 with delicious wood fired pizzas from Round House Bakery , fiber goodness from Idlenot Fibersmiths , and loads of extremely cute (and some less cute) animals for visiting with! See you there!

What are YOU doing this weekend? Hopefully the answer was on the tip of your tongue, and hopefully that answer is "Going on the WASHINGTON COUNTY FIBER TOUR and stopping to see Idlenot Fibersmiths!" (If it's not, we need to talk about priorities...)

We are thrilled to announce that not only will the shop be open during regular hours (10am - 4pm), but Kate will have a table at Caer Luna Farm as well, so there's twice the opportunity to get your hands on some sweet, sweet Idlenot goodies! Wherever you're headed this weekend, make Idlenot (and fiber) part of your adventure!

We’re delighted to announce that our rainbow eggs are now available at The Cambridge Food Co-Op in downtown Cambridge! These soy-free eggs come from our many breeds of colorfully laying (and very free ranging) happy hens.
While we enjoy the antics and different personalities presented by these varied breeds, these ladies are also helping us to restore and improve our pastures naturally.

We will have a few litters of Rex rabbits for visiting with during the weekend of April 27-28 during the WASHINGTON COUNTY FIBER TOUR - they’re unbearably cute but also an incredible animal for small homesteads! If you’ve ever considered raising rabbits (or just keeping one as a pet), we’d be happy to chat with you about rabbit keeping!
