Get your taste buds ready for this coming Saturday…The Hungry Hiker is cooking up some tasty specials!

Our Oktoberfest Afterfest is this Saturday, October 17, and we are featuring a special menu all day to celebrate our German roots from 1-8 pm.

Might as well start getting hungry now with our first item, the Oktoberfest burger. This features a Duma Meats ground pork patty mixed with pretzels, topped with Dijon mustard, Swiss cheese and Hamburg Brewing Co. Oktoberfest-infused onions, all atop a pretzel bun. It is served with a side of fries.

This dish pairs well with Hamburg Brewing Co. Oktoberfest l***r.

Hope you’re hungry because we are going to pig out on some facts about pork and its source this week during National Pork Month.

Our October sangria is candy apple ‘fang’ria. It features our Triad (blush) w**e with apple juice, salted caramel vodka and caramel syrup garnished with apples and caramel candy.

The Hungry Hiker is featuring an Oktoberfest stew with smoked Duma Meats sausage and Hamburg Brewing Oktoberfest l***r. We also have pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting for dessert. For Thursday’s happy hour (5-7 pm only) it has $2 off summit snack appetizers.

Forty medicines, including insulin, are made from pigs. See what a beautiful creation you can make from nature Wednesday, October 14, at our Whoo’s In Bloom: Sculpting With Nature Fir Crazy Workshop led by Flowers & Forest, LLC from 6-8 pm.

Pork is the most widely consumed protein worldwide, followed by chicken and beef. Digest some great conversation about our latest read Thursday, October 15, at The Lost Chapter book club meeting from 6-7:30 pm.

Pigs can run up to 11.5 miles per hour and their squeals can reach up to 115 decibels - louder than a Concorde jet. Dont let them show you up. Hurry over Friday, October 16, on show us your best cheers for String Theory, playing from 5-8 pm.

Pigs do not have sweat glands, so rolling in the mud not only cools them off but protects their skin from sunburn and parasites. We’re chilling Saturday, October 17, with Fred Ziwich, on accordion for our Oktoberfest Afterfest. Don’t forget to check out the special German menu from The Hungry Hiker!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for this year’s fall clambake. The best part of carrying on family traditions is getting to do them with family but also share them with all of you! We hope you enjoyed as much as we did and that you’ll join us again next year!

We are looking forward to hosting those who purchased tickets for our fall clambake Saturday, October 10, at 5 pm.

We are open to the public, so if you didn’t purchase a ticket, we are offering free smells. The Hungry Hiker will serve its regular menu from 1-8 pm.

We also have live music by Dave Klaehn from 5-8 pm.

We can’t wait for the return of CrossRoads Band Canton, and we hope you can’t either. They will be playing here Friday, October 9, from 5-8 pm.

If you haven’t tried our new monthly specials from The Hungry Hiker, they are perfect for putting you in the fall mindset. Warm up with Oktoberfest stew or a pumpkin cake bar.

Thursday, October 8, is wide open with possibilities! We are open to the public from 4-8 pm. The Hungry Hiker will also serve from 4-8 pm, with happy hour ($2 off summit snack appetizers and $2 off b**r and hard c***r with $12 w**e lifts in the tasting room) from 5-7 pm.

That means it's a perfect time to try some of our new drink offerings from Hamburg Brewing Co. if you haven't yet. We just introduced pumpkin hard c***r, which is very fall forward and spicetastic! We also have a limited offering of Oktoberfest l***r on draft.

October’s drink specials were so colorful, we had to get them from a few different angles. And they are all available starting today, October 7.

The Headless Horseman - vodka, angostura bitters, ginger ale and grenadine garnished with a thyme sprig and dehydrated orange

Thackery Binx Cat-berry Mule - Tequila, blood orange juice, lime juice, raspberry hibiscus tea, blackberry simple syrup and ginger b**r, garnished with a dehydrated orange and blackberry

BATberry Spicy Margarita - Tequila, blackberries, lime juice, homemade jalapeno syrup and triple sec with a blackberry jalapeno bat garnish

AND we of course have a mocktail, too. It’s an apple crisp featuring spiced and sparkling apple c***rs and pumpkin butter, garnished with an apple, cinnamon stick and jazzed up with a caramel apple cotton candy glitter bomb

As always, we have w**e slushies as well as our ‘1194 On The Rocks’ old fashioned.
