The 2026 Mountain Top Hops harvest is officially scheduled for this coming Saturday, August 29th. With our newly acquired Hops Harvester 1000, we are hoping for a significantly easier day! The main trail going across the property (previously know as Main Street) has been renamed to Sasquatch Drive! We also recently had our logo design completed.

Found the culprit! For the past 6 weeks we have had something eating new growth and low foliage. We initially thought it could be a rabbit or ground hog. But as time went on, the plants were eaten as high as 3 to 4 feet. So we put cameras out a couple of days ago. Even though we have a solar electric fence, it turns out the fawns can fit between the first and second fence wires. So we just completed stringing an additional wire between them. A local farm says it will stop them from getting in.

It’s the end of July and our plants are producing cones nicely. We are still getting significant amounts of rain. We have yet to irrigate the plants this year. Normally by the middle of July we need to water. We occasionally see orange Eastern Newts on the property. It is also common to find Chicken of the Woods and Chanterelle mushrooms.

When the waterfalll by the house is running like this, you know we have had some rain! Our plants have started flowering with a few cones forming. But we also have some yellowing of the lower leaves due to excessive water. It’s pretty normal for things to dry up in July and the plants should be fine.

Mountain Top Hops has a huge announcement! We just gained access to a Steenland Hop Harvester 1000. It’s designed for small to medium size hops farms and should work great for us! We really appreciate all of the help from Audra, Bryon and Donnie in securing and loading the harvester. It arrived to the farm last week. I’m hoping it will make this years harvest party more of a celebration and less work! The hops plants have needed more irrigation this year compared to last year, but things are looking good. This time of year our main focus is cutting grass. We had a mama bear and three cubs stop by last week.

Here we GROW again! The 2026 crop is doing great. We just finished one of the most important and difficult spring jobs we do. Hanging about 200 coir lines and pruning and training the plants to climb. But it’s done and they are looking good!
