“We have babies, yes we do… we have babies, how about you?” 🐣🐐🐰🪿💛

Spring is absolutely in full swing here at OHH Farms, and the barnyard is bursting with life right now!

Right now we’ve got: 🐐 Baby Wonder, our Nigerian Dwarf buckling, getting bolder every day
🐰 Fluffy Flemish Giant kits doing their best impression of tiny couch potatoes with giant feet
🪿 Goslings acting like they own the whole farm (they’re not wrong)
🐥 A brooder full of chicks peeping, scratching, and growing faster than I can keep up with
It’s chaos. It’s messy. It’s early mornings and straw in your boots and tiny lives depending on you.
And honestly… it’s my favorite kind of chaos 💛

This little homestead keeps me grounded, busy, and full of gratitude every single day. Thanks for following along and sharing in the journey.

🎶 Old MacDonald had a farm… and this one had EVERYTHING. 🎶

Before ringing in the New Year, I wrapped up an unforgettable farm sit that felt like the ultimate animal bingo card. Emus, quail, ducks, chickens, peacocks, big horses, mini horses, a mini mule, goats, cows — and a brand-new experience for me… water buffalo 👀🐃

Plus the real supervisors: cats and dogs making sure everything ran smoothly.

So here’s to the first OHH Farms post of 2026! 🎉
We're grateful for another year of learning, caring for animals of all shapes and sizes, and saying “yes” to new experiences (even the ones that make you double-check the fence).

Happy New Year from OHH Farms — may 2026 be full of healthy animals, muddy boots, and a little Old MacDonald energy. 🌾🐓

We at OHH Farms just want to wish you all a Happy New Years! Here to 2026!

From our pastures, coops, and barns to your home — Merry Christmas 🎄
We’re grateful for another year of growth, learning, and community here at OHH Farms. May your holiday season be merry and bright. (Yes this is AI, try to dress a goat up without it eating the costume or the tree)

Tonight was one of those hard homestead calls.

With wind chills in the single digits and a Level 1 snow emergency, I brought my most vulnerable chicken, Pipsqueak, inside to warm her up. She’s a tiny Old English Bantam, and when I checked on the flock she was shaking from the cold.

I know chickens are cold-hardy. I also know there’s a difference between cold and dangerous. Single digits, wind, and a bird already shivering is where compassion comes before stubbornness.

She’s set up in an unheated space, not pampered, just safe — warming her back up slowly so she can transition properly when the weather breaks. This isn’t about weakening her, it’s about preventing hypothermia and frostbite.

Homesteading isn’t always “leave them be and hope for the best.” Sometimes it’s stepping in, making the call, and doing what’s right for the animal in front of you.

Pipsqueak will head back outside when it’s safe. Tonight, she’s warm — and that’s the right choice. 💜

🐴😂 When the “wrong” animals get into trouble…

A few weeks ago I snapped this picture, and I still laugh every time I see it. Somehow Spirit and JoJo managed to get themselves locked inside the chicken run when the door swung closed behind them.

Usually it’s the goats causing all the chaos around here… but apparently the mini horses wanted their turn at being mischievous. 🤦‍♀️💛

They stood there acting completely innocent, like “What? We live here now.”
Meanwhile the chickens were definitely judging them from the sidelines. Mind you, I am uncertain how long they were actually trapped.

Life on the homestead: never boring, always entertaining. 🐴🐓✨
