FINAL WEEKEND OPEN! 💐🌼🩷
SATURDAY 6/6 AND SUNDAY 6/7
10-4 Central Time
My due date is only a few weeks away, so I decided to button things up this weekend and focus the rest of my energy this month on the cut flower garden, my own garden, and baby prep!
I have plenty of flowers left, especially if you've got a shady spot you need filled! Still, there's new things in bloom this week! Nicotiana is a large, tall annual that has a wonderful scent and tubular flowers for hummingbirds and moths. Many new colors of geranium are in bloom. I'll have to time those better next year. Begonias, impatiens, fuschia, and coleus are ready for your shade containers! Single and double petunias, calibrachoa, sweet potato vine, verbena, bacopa, bidens, and more are ready for sunny spots! I even have Cascadias Indian Summer petunias left, and if you want to know a secret, they're the exact same plant as Supertunia Honey. 🤫
🌻 The Sunfinity Sunflowers are budded up to bloom as well! They can produce up to 100 blooms a year with a few pinches and deadheading. They are the ONLY reblooming sunflower.
🧊Ice Plant, a cousin to trailing mezzoo, it has succulent leaves that look like they have ice crystals on them! Then, gets daisy-like flowers and trails. Perfect for sunny, dry containers.
I have coneflowers, butterfly w**d, bee balm, yarrow, hollyhocks, shasta daisies, and many other perennials still available! $7 each
ALL VEGGIES, HERBS, 4 PACKS, AND MEDICINAL HERBS BUY 1 GET 1 FREE!
I still have a ton of peppers, eggplants, onions, 4 pack marigold, along with heirloom tomatoes and various other veggies.
Come out and visit this weekend! I appreciate every single one of you supporting my growing business and family! 🥰

LATE SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE
Remember those cut flower anemones I was so excited about? I found the native ones! Along with 3 types of Penstemon, the largest flowering plant genus in the US, with over 240 species! Check your native plant knowledge in the photos.
'Anemone canadensis' or Canada Anemone. It spreads and makes a great ground cover! They grow in low areas and moist environments
'Penstemon grandiflorus' or Large Flowered Penstemon. It thrives in sandy, dry soils and is a hummingbird magnet
'Penstemon albidus' or White Penstemon, see above
'Penstemon angustifolius' or Narrowleaf Penstemon, see above
'Rosa arkansana' or Wild Prairie Rose can grow up to 6 feet in a season, is a pollinator favorite and produces medicinal rose hips in the fall
'Sisyrinchium idahoense' or Blue Eyed Grass is a member of the Iris family! It forms clumps and makes a great border plant with its grassy like foliage
'Oxytropis lambertii' or Purple Locow**d is an important legume that fixes nitrogen in the soil and is an important source of food for early pollinators
'Castilleja sessiliflora' or Downy Painted Cup is related to Indian Paintbrush and is also hemiparasitic. Meaning it feeds off of nearby grasses and is hard to cultivate in a home garden setting.
'Erysimum asperum' or Western Wallflower is a member of the Mustard family and thrives in rocky soils. It is also an important food source for pollinators. Not to be confused with Leafy Spurge!!! Although I see no similarities...someone I know called it Leafy Spurge...cough cough...my mom

FIRST CUT FLOWER BLOOMS 💐
Sorry for the double post today...but I'm excited!! The anemones are JUUUUST starting to bloom. Hopefully I get some better stem length in the next couple weeks. This is 3 "Carmel" Anemones and some "Sweet Pea" Violas. If they continue to bloom with good stem length, I might have bouquets in a couple weeks! I've never grown them before, and they can be tricky in our climate, if it heats up too fast they'll quit blooming. Wish me luck! These are also special Itallian violas bred for longer stem length than typical violas you plant in containers. I'll post a picture in the comments of what the anemone started as back in March!
And no...I'm not counting these short little stems as a first bouquet 😂

Here's everything I have currently growing!!

FLOWERS ARE LOVING THIS HEAT!
OPEN SATURDAY 5/30 AND SUNDAY 5/31
10-4 Central Time
While we're spending the week planting the cut flower field, the greenhouse is showing off! Petunias are back in full bloom after a much needed haircut about 10 days ago. I have a lot left in many colors, so come get them! I still have plenty of garden veggies, while most of the canning tomatoes are gone, I still have lots of cool heirlooms and cherry varieties plus tomatillos! Classic green bell peppers are gone, but every other color of sweet pepper is still available plus tons of hot pepper varieties. Lots of herbs, onions, medicinal plants, and natives! And I have my homegrown seed packets! Full of easy to grow flowers! Some notable highlights
🌶Cayenne, Purple Cayenne and Paprika Peppers - to dry and make your own spices!
🍅Orange Hat Tomato - a micro dwarf tomato small enough for a 6 in pot on your patio table
🫑Purple, Chocolate, and White Bell Pepper
🥬 4 Colors of Kale - Curly, Red Curly, red Russian, and Dinosaur
🥦Purple Cauliflower and Purple Brussel Sprouts
🌼Gem Marigold 4 packs in Red, Orange, and Yellow - miniature blooms and fragrant foliage to repel mosquitos!
🐦Hummingbird Favorites - Fuschia Hanging Baskets, Torenia, Cuphea, and Nicotiana
🌻Native Maximillion Sunflowers about to blooms, reach up to 6 ft tall!
We've planted around 1500 seedlings, 150 dahlias, direct sewn thousands of seeds. But we still have about 1500 more seedlings to go!! Keep an eye out in a few weeks for the first cut flower bouquets available! We'll see what comes first, my baby or the first bouquet 😂

PUMPKIN PLANTING DAY!
Today marks the beginning of a very busy (and sweaty) week on the farm! Over 40 varieties of pumpkins and ornamental gourds, and 7 types of hard shell gourds were planted this morning!
To go with those, mum and aster plugs will be arriving this week! I'll grow them big and fluffy all summer long until they're ready to bloom and sit on your porches come September.
Ornamental corn, mini ornamental corn, broom corn, and millet will be planted as another fall decor option.
The flower field will get planted with thousands of seedlings, along with 150 dahlia tubers, and thousands of direct sown flowers.
Peep the cute 'Blackberry' petunia that is FINALLY in bloom. I still have flowers, herbs, veggies, perennials, hanging baskets, and natives in the greenhouse and will be open again next weekend!
