Scattered Acres Sport Horses has an opening for a part-time Stable Hand. We are a high caliber eventing barn, and are looking for a dependable, hard-working, efficient, and positive team-player to add to our staff long-term. Extensive equine experience is a must. As a stable hand, you would be working with high quality sport horses doing things such as treating injuries, feeding, turning horses in and out, tacking and untacking, and other daily jobs that are assigned. Pay depends on experience. Please contact us if you are interested in joining our team! Check our website at www.scatteredacres.net.
SA Saphira is a 16.1 h, 2014 Trakehner mare who is confidently working at 3rd level and schooling 4th level movements.
Saphira was imported from Germany as a 3 year old for her athleticism, elegant movement and intelligence. She has proven herself to be a wonderfully talented horse with the confidence and desire to please that she was bred for. Saphira has an incredible work ethic, excellent conformation, a natural uphill balance, and lovely, rhythmic gaits. She has been brought along correctly by a professional trainer, but has also been ridden by students so we know she is amateur friendly.
She hacks out, goes through water, and is a brave horse with a ton of stamina and personality. She is easy to work around, trailers, has no vices, and really wants to bond with one special person.
She shows all the signs of being a great upper level dressage horse, but is happy to go at the lower levels as well.
She would be best suited for a sensitive and confident rider looking to maximize her potential.
Mid 5 figures, Price will increase with training.
For more information on Saphira, please email us at [email protected]
⭐️On-site Full or Half Lease Available⭐️
Raya Del Sol is a 15.3h 2003 Hanovarian Mare. This stunning mare is a complete schoolmaster! Trained through 4th level dressage with easy changes, lateral movements, and has adjustable, rhythmic gaits. She is energetic, extremely intelligent and has a stellar work ethic. Raya is sensitive and prefers a rider with an educated seat and hand. She was a successful event horse but retired due to an old injury. She is sound, but to keep her that way her owner has decided to keep her in lower impact work. She would be perfect for someone who wants to get their bronze medal or take on low level hunters!
📍Located in Catlett, VA at Scattered Acres Sport Horses only.

Gustav is a 19.0h, 2013 Trakehner Gelding. This attractive horse is a Novice packer with miles up to Training level in Eventing. Trained through 4th level dressage with easy changes. Gustav is eye-catching and uncomplicated on the flat and an honest ride to the jumps with no water/ditch/bank issues. He is ready to take a junior or amateur around the Novice/Training levels for many years to come. He would also be great in the Hunter Derby or in an Equitation/Hunter career. Gustav is suitable for a junior or amateur.

With a heavy heart we would like to inform everyone of Warners passing. What a special horse, to not only Caitlyn, but to all of the scattered acres team. Warner has taught so many people so many important lessons and brought so many people joy with his kind but stubborn personality. Caitlyn took Warner, a 22 y/o horse who didn’t know anything about dressage, to a year and a half later going to 2022 area II Championships! Even at 24 Warner never let his age show by racing around a xc course like it was easy. Warner will be missed so much, rest easy big guy❤️
Thank you so much to Annette Payne Le Cheval Photography LLC
for these absolutely gorgeous pictures of SA Saphira and Mary Fox’s C’Adagio! It was such a pleasure working with you, you truly bring out the beauty of these horses! You are so talented and fun to work with, we cannot wait to work more with you in the future!
What an awesome end to Mary foxes “C’Adagio” first season competing! He and Autumn braved the conditions at Area II Champs and came home with a second place!
He proved himself to be calm and reliable in mucky cross country conditions and even relaxed in the freezing rain for dressage. Thank you to all of the volunteers who kept the show running in such horrible conditions!
It is with great sadness that we share the news of CJ’s passing. He was 30 years old and had been retired for the last 10 years. Autumn bought him as a feisty 2 year old who right until the end was just as feisty! He would drag you out to the field after dinner and walk like molasses when it was time to come in in the morning. He was loud and obnoxious but we all loved that old man. He taught Autumn a lot about horse ownership and traveled the country with her in her younger years. I know Jamaica was waiting for you. Run free buddy.
Mary Fox’s C’adagio impressed us all with his win at Old Tavern last weekend in his first Novice Horse Trial! Not only did he win the class but he felt awesome for all three phases. There’s nothing so rewarding for Autumn as choosing a promising horse as a weanling, saddle breaking him, and watching him become so confident and correct in his training as she brings him up the levels! It is wonderful to work with a supportive owner like Mary Fox and to train with her! It’s so exciting to have paired him with his perfect match, You and C’Adagio have become such an incredible team and Autumn is so excited to continue to help build your partnership.
We’re just one month away from the Heal Foundation 8th Annual Open House and Fundraiser and couldn’t be more excited to back in-person for this special event at the farm after two years of Zoom. Thanks to everyone who has continued to support us during the pandemic- we’ve welcomed more Clients than ever before and have provided services despite the challenges of Covid. It turns out there are many benefits to working outdoors!
The Open House is Sunday, October 23rd from 2pm – 5pm. The event is free and open to the public. We’ll be providing light refreshments, will have a children’s activity area and there will be multiple opportunities to experience what its like to work with horses in a variety of equine learning sessions. If you’ve ever wondered what equine therapy is really like this is the perfect opportunity to experience it for yourself in a casual, educational, non-therapeutic setting. It's also the perfect time of year to be out at the farm and relax in our little slice of paradise.
As a 501c3 Public Charity all of HEAL subsidized therapy services are provided thanks to donations from our generous supporters and community partners. If you are able to donate please do so via the QR code on the flyer below to ensure our continued operations and to support Veterans and First Responders in Northern Virginia. If you are interested in being a Sponsor, please contact [email protected] for more information. This year’s Sponsor gift is pretty cool if I say so myself!
Please respond to the Heal Foundation Facebook event if you plan to attend so we can keep track of numbers. If you know a Veteran, First Responder or Dependent family that might benefit from HEAL please pass along this email and the event information. HEAL Foundation
We hope to see you at the farm on October 23rd!
We are so glad to have our Barn Manager Lisa back to riding, grooming at shows, and working! Such a scary experience to have spinal surgery, but Lisa is so strong and always perseveres even when she was told she had a chance she’d be paralyzed! It’s been a long 7 months without her while she was resting her back after her back surgery but she is finally healed up and happy to be back in the barn and saddle. Just in Lisa style, she came back into riding with a bang by taking Autumn’s sale horse “Solstice” on a 2 hour long conditioning ride through Manassas National Battlefield of course with an air vest as a precautionary. Lisa is a core member here at Scattered Acres and it is so lovely to have her presence back in the barn. Lisa takes such great care of every horse that walks into our barn as if they were her own. Welcome back Lisa we’re so happy you’re feeling better!!
Autumn Rae and “Luz de la Luna” not only came home with blue ribbons and beautiful pictures at CWPC, but also had one of their best stadiums rides to date! In Autumns words “There’s nothing like having your old friend back in action”
The Scattered acres team had lots of successful rounds at Homestead’s dressage show this previous sunday! Solstice was lovely and relaxed and earned a 1st, 2nd and 3rd! Scattered Acres’s very own homebred “Scattered acres Horizon” had a great show even earning a 3rd place ribbon with his owner Cadance Jackson. We are excited to see this pair in the show ring more often! Sarah and “Rockstar” had incredible tests earning them a well deserved blue and red ribbon. Somer and “Cookies n’ Cream” showed so much improvement in their tests earning two blue ribbons at their first time competing at this level! Over all a very lovely show thank you to all of our riders for such a fun show!
We are so happy to introduce the new addition to our working student program, Justina! Welcome to the scattered team! We are excited to help further your education and see where this exciting year will take you!
We took Hunter and Caitlyn out for a celebratory dinner. These ladies have worked very hard and have ended their working student positions. However, they are both staying at scattered acres as employees and assistant instructors!!
So lucky to have such green pastures out here 😍

Autumn is ready to kick off this competition season with Luna. They are on top of the world 🌎 👏🏼
** Immediate Opening!!**
We are searching for our next fellow! Come learn in the heart of USEA Area 2’s eventing country! Perfect for a college student looking to do a semester off campus while earning credit, someone who just graduated looking to dive back into the horse industry, or someone who is looking to get their foot in the door in the eventing world!
About the fellowship:
The Scattered Acres Fellowship is an experiential learning program focused on riding instruction and comprehensive professional development in the equine industry. We prefer our applicants have at least two years of riding and horse care experience and commit to a one-year fellowship but will consider shorter durations as well. Our curriculum and focus is calibrated for each individual depending on their experience, the duration of their commitment and their goals. All fellows are instructed in the fundamentals of equine care, barn management, riding instruction, horse training, competition grooming and equestrian business management. Intensive daily riding lessons from the founder and owner of Scattered Acres, Autumn Rae, will focus on elevating our fellows to be competent and competitive equestrians in dressage, stadium and cross country jumping. We are located in the geographic heart of eventing country so there will be ample opportunities to attend and perhaps compete in local USEA competitions. Additional educational activities will include reading assignments, various clinics and working with our on-site non-profit HEAL which is an equine assisted learning and psychotherapy organization working to assist veterans and first responders. There is no shortage of opportunities to learn and advance here at Scattered Acres. Fellows are immediately immersed in the responsibilities of operating a busy riding stable and contribute to the efforts of our professional team. Our fellows benefit tremendously from this intensive practical experience and leave prepared for many possibilities in the equine industry. Please see our website for more information.
