Some days on the farm are work from sunup to sundown…and some days remind me exactly why I love this crazy little life so much. ❤️

Coffee on the porch. Good conversations. Loving on my ridiculous collection of animals. Wandering through the garden and discovering my very first tomato, some yellow cucumbers that had me thoroughly confused 😂, and whatever other surprises Mother Nature decided to grow for me. A long, glorious bath at the end of the day and nowhere else I needed to be.

There’s always something that needs mowed, weeded, fed, fixed, watered, cleaned or chased around here—but today I mostly just got to enjoy what all that hard work has created.

Twenty acres of chaos, dirt, animals, vegetables I occasionally cannot identify…and peace. 😂🌻🐴🐐🐓🐕🍅

Wouldn’t trade my little piece of Missouri heaven for anything. ❤️

What an exciting day! My flowers are blooming, my garden is overgrown but producing…and chicks are hatching! I never get tired of it!!

Home. ❤️

After what felt like 47 years of travel delays, missed connections and general airport tomfoolery, I finally made it back to the ranch.

And apparently the farm has been quite busy without me. 😂

🎃 The pumpkin patch is PUMPKINING — despite Mikhail( Mark’s nickname when he annoys me) accusing me of having AI-generated pumpkins. Sir. They are attached to vines. In dirt. With bug-chewed leaves. It’s called agriculture. 😂
🥚 I have a beautiful rainbow of chicks to be.
🌸 My flowers decided to bloom while I was gone.
🍞 The sourdough is still alive.
🪿 And the goose remains wildly overdressed and completely unbothered.

So now I’m exactly where I belong: on my porch, cold beer beside me, protection candle burning, looking out over the beautiful chaos I call home.

It may be overgrown. It may be ridiculous. There may be livestock doing things that will require an explanation before sunset.

But damn, I missed this place. ❤️

It’s been a little quiet around Blackwater Ranch lately… but don’t worry, the crew has been keeping me plenty busy. 🤎🐾

Ash is growing up way too fast, Buttercup is still convinced she’s royalty, Siouxsie is thriving, Romeo continues to believe fences are merely suggestions, and Julian is still running the entire operation like the feathered CEO he was born to be. 🪿👑

The livestock guardian dogs remain on patrol (and on squirrel surveillance), the horses are demanding treats, the sheep are plotting something, and every day brings another adventure I never saw coming. Oh, and the sweet declaration from Clara that she has indeed laid another egg 😂

Life out here is messy, muddy, hilarious, exhausting… and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Thanks for sticking around while life got busy. I’m excited to start sharing more of the everyday chaos, new projects, baby animal updates, garden progress, and all the Blackwater Ranch shenanigans again.
