The flavor is in the fat. Our hogs have 1.25-1.5 inches of back fat when processed at 300-320 lbs. The industry went to a leaner hog in the 90’s and by doing so developed hogs that taste like cardboard. Our hogs do not have any of this modern genetics that destroyed the flavor in pork.

Crimson is a sow that we are building around. We have a boar and 2 sows out of her now. She is very productive, a good mother and her pigs grow very well. She averages 10 pigs weaned per litter. I would say that is very good for an Old line Duroc.
