So today’s bad news was supposed to be that the local strawberry farm got hit by a hailstorm over the weekend so we're cancelling our "Strawberries" event scheduled for Saturday. The good news was supposed to be that since we got strawberries from them last week, we'll still have plenty of fresh strawberry lemonade and milkshakes, just no berries available for sale by the quart. Smokin’ Saturday will still be a blast with everything else you know and love at the farm this weekend.

But now dozens of parents woke up this morning to a world without their babies in it. Another community is grieving. Teachers are frustrated. Children are scared. We are devasted and heartbroken and FURIOUS.

The good news, if you can call it that? We are not powerless. We cannot and will not give up on making change and fixing what is so clearly broken. Courageous folks who have channeled their grief and anguish from personal tragedy into leadership continue to show us the way.

Fresh strawberries by the quart from Lost Corner Farm are available while they last!

Seriously, you don’t even have to buy anything- just GET OUTSIDE and enjoy this beautiful day while it lasts! (To clarify, we’ll totally sell you stuff if you’re interested. We still have close to a hundred varieties of tomatoes. And also donuts. And “BBQ To Go” packs. And nitro cold brew coffee milkshakes. But for real, no pressure, you really can just come to play!)

We're basically a one-stop shop for Mother's Day bliss this weekend. Local eggs, honey, and jam for a delicious breakfast in bed? Check. Or perhaps fresh donuts and a nitro cold brew would be a better option? Covered. Stunning hanging baskets that will brighten your deck all summer long? That's our thing. Mom wants a vegetable garden? Best selection of the season available this weekend. Pro Tip: If what Mom secretly wants is an hour or two of solitude, we open at 10 AM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so grab the kids and come play at the farm!

It's chilly this morning, but it looks like we're heading into a beautiful opening weekend! The Corner Market opens tomorrow (Fri, 4/29) at 10 a.m., and then comes our first Smokin' Saturday since 2019! Farm favorite Patty Reese performs 12-2 this Saturday (4/30), and Foamhenge will be open to visitors 1-2.

Perspective | 5 reasons to grow a vegetable garden, beyond the vegetables

There are countless reasons to grow your own veggies. We will have a whopping 98 tomato varieties to choose from at the Corner Market! Opening Day is just one week away. See you soon!
(Note: Opening Weekend plant selection and availability will depend on the weather forecast. Quantities are extremely limited for some varieties, so they will go fast!)

Two weeks from today, the Corner Market opens for our Spring & Summer season! Excited is an understatement; we can't wait for our first Smokin' Saturday since 2019! This week, we tended to our greenhouse plants, made progress getting the market ready, and tested out our new soft serve ice cream machine. (The ice cream was delicious, but we probably need to test out our milkshake machine next week, just to make sure it still works. It's the responsible thing to do.)

We caught this leprechaun in the act- painting the Beanstalk Barn Slide bright green! Lucky for us, this was more than a St. Patrick's Day prank; this slick new coat will make the slide extra fast this fall!

Vote for us! The Corner Market opens at the end of next month (April 29) and, in case we're not the only ones counting, there are just 191 days until we kick off Fall Festival 2022!

In the meantime, if we're your favorite, please weigh in here: https://northernvirginiamag.com/best-of-nova-readers-poll-family/. (We know that we're more than just a pumpkin patch, but that category seems like the best fit given the options.) If we're NOT your favorite, we'd love to hear from you about that, too, so shoot us a message or email [email protected] and tell us what we could do to improve. Thanks in advance!

Update: No hayrides this year, but we still have small trees available, and Sam is still strikingly handsome and single.

Here’s a super great deal: for just $39, you get this handsome tree AND a free hayride! The tree featured in this photo is our “compact” size, which is in the 4-5’ range with an overall smaller frame. For reference, our model Sam is 6’5” which explains why he is kneeling (but fails to explain why he is flexing like that).

[Image: A large and strikingly handsome man who happens to be single and whose email address is [email protected] kneels next to a compact Fraser fir Christmas tree in front of an orange Case tractor. The man is wearing glasses and there are blond curls escaping his black hat. He’s wearing a gray shirt, brown pants, with a red Cox Farms smock. His sleeve is pulled up and he is flexing to show off his biceps, and his facial expression suggests that he attempting to look serious while trying not to laugh at himself while also looking into the sun. The background has a beautiful blue sky with traces of white clouds.]

Thank you for making our own personal hayride today SO MUCH FUN! 🎃🍁🍂🏚️🧙🧹 A lovely set up and gracious, helpful staff made this experience special for the whole family. That and the treats... 🍎☕🍩🍿The boys loved it so much we had to go through twice. The second time may or may not have involved a popcorn battle between the troll and the backseat hayriders. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #wouldrecommend
I just wanted to say you guys did a fantastic job on the drive thru hay ride. Lines and directions were clear, everyone had masks, displays and music were entertaining for the kids. You really made the best of a bad situation. Plus, the spaced out photo ops at the end with phone holder and sanitizer! Just brilliant. Thank you again for bringing a little bit of fall fun for my girls. 🎃👍🏻🥰
You make me proud of rural America!
Hi, we adopted two guinea pigs in March and Our girls love their Hay.... do you guys by any chance sell Timothy hay or orchard grass? I’d rather buy from a farm than store 🙂
