What’s your Alias? 🕵️

This Pinot Noir comes from Napa, and the same producers of other delicious wines such as Aviary and Folktale which you have seen on our shelves before.

It is a gorgeous ruby color in the glass with notes of raspberry and vanilla on the nose, rounded out with softer notes of black cherry, cola, and light minerality. Creamy flavors of raspberry continue onto the palate, met with rich vanilla, lively acid, and a decadent chocolatey finish. This is a perfect wine to enjoy on its own, but can also pair with any chicken or pork dish.

Tannins can stem from four primary sources: the skin of the grape, the seeds (pips), the stems, and wooden barrels used during the aging process. Tannins provide both texture and mouthfeel to a wine as well as a sense of structure and weight.

Texture is a great way to describe tannins. Word such as silky, plush, or velvety. When wine has a noticeable but unobtrusive it typically is descibed as “grippy”.

Tannin is a term for various phenolic compounds. All tannins have one characteristic in common, this being, they bind and precipitate portions. Saliva is full of protein, therefore when drinking a tannic red wine it will bind to the saliva. This binding action is what causes your mouth to feel dry.

Some grape varieties have more tannins than others. Some of these vareties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Malbec, Tannat, Syrah, Merlot, and Sangiovese to name a few. Depending on the style in which the grape variety is made in can dictate the level of tannins extraction. Grapes like Pinot Noir, Gamay, & Grenache have thinner grape skins and are much less tannic in nature.

Celebrate on this dreary Thirsty Thursday by popping open a bottle of Copertino Riserva.

Predominantly Negro Amaro with a small percentage of Malvasia Nera. The maceration is 7 - 8 days at 28°C followed by gentle pressing, fermentation, and aging in stainless steel. This Riserva wine is made only in the best vintages and released at the winemaker's discretion after several years of bottle aging.

Ruby red with garnet hints. Intense, full, rich and ethereal aromas of blackberry, plum, Mediterranean vegetation, ripe fruit, and leather. Warm, rich and generous, with complex tones and flavors of almond and blackcurrant. Perfect for pizza, burgers, red sauce and meat pasta.
