Last week we spent the week up at our family farm in Todd checking on our bees along with our apple orchard. Last Sunday, after a week of working around the farm my husband and I decided to float the new river near the Wagner Rd. Access to the South Fork of the New River. Within five minutes of getting in the river, our canoe capsized when it hit a large boulder that we did not see. Yes, I had my phone with me to take pictures, and it fell to the bottom of the river. Highly irritated, but ready to get on with the float, I resigned to take it as a loss. But the good Lord had other plans. A young teenager, Cole Rivers, happened to be nearby, and happened to have goggles. His parents encouraged him to start searching for the phone, I told him he’d never find it, not to worry about it. A few minutes later, he came up out of the water with my phone, which also had my drivers license and credit card with it. Unbelievable! Even more so, my phone was still working after having been in the river for at least 10 minutes. Thank you so much, Cole, what a blessing you are to me!

Blackburn Family Farms participated yesterday at the Kings Mountain Farmers Market in downtown Kings Mountain! We enjoyed seeing and talking with old friends along with meeting and making new ones! Update from Blackburn Family Farms! 🐝

This past week, we spent some quality time in the fields, giving our thornless blackberry canes and muscadine vines some much-needed
attention.

🌱 We carefully pruned the thornless blackberry canes, ensuring they get the rest they need to come back even stronger in the spring. We can already imagine the lush blooms and the promise of a sweet harvest of blackberries!

🍇 Our muscadine vines are also taking a well-deserved break, getting ready to dazzle us with their sweet, juicy grapes in the warmer months.

As we tuck our plants in for the winter, we can't help but dream about the delicious jams and refreshing muscadine juice that will grace our tables in the coming months. The taste of our hard work and nature's bounty is something we look forward to sharing with you all!
