Since 1907, the Smith family has been farming 250 acres of land in Stony Point, North Carolina. As the composting method was developed, he needed a name for the product. His great-grandfather, who originally started the family farm, was nick-named “Daddy Pete”. 2008, Daddy Pete Farms was recognized as a North Carolina Century Farm. The state honors family owned and operated farms for 100 years of continuous agricultural heritage, which helps lead to the rich heritage of the state.
