Havarti & Blue -- our newest little ladies!** 💙🧀

Both lambs are healthy, spunky, and already sticking close to mama. And yes — they are BOTH girls! We’re officially ending this lambing season on a sweet, woolly high note because this is our last set of lambs for the year. 🥹🐑

**Fun Katahdin Tip:** Katahdin sheep are known for their incredible range of color patterns. Unlike many wool breeds, their markings can change slightly as they mature — and lambs don’t always look exactly like their parents at birth! Spots can shift, shading can deepen, and some even surprise you as they shed out. That’s part of the fun with this breed — every lamb feels like a little genetic mystery.

We couldn’t have asked for a better grand finale to the season. Two healthy girls, one proud mama, and full hearts over here. 💕🐑

Meet Feta & Swiss 🧀🐑🐑

These two ram lambs were born yesterday and are already making themselves right at home. Katahdin sheep are known for being hardy, easy-keeping, and great mothers, and these boys are already showing off that strong start.

Both lambs came out almost all white, just like their sire. Katahdins can throw a wide range of colors and patterns, so it’s always exciting to see what shows up at birth. Coat color, size, and markings can vary wildly — even within the same flock.

Healthy, sturdy, and off to a great beginning — welcome to the farm, Feta and Swiss 🤍🐑🐑

Mozzarella here, came in as a singleton. Although we are usually getting twins (and even triplets last season), singles do happen from time to time. What's most impressive about this boy, is his size! He's almost bigger than our one month old ram (2nd picture, black lamb). We are so excited to see him grow 💪

I helped bring a lamb into the world today, knowing in my heart that it had already left it.

We did everything we could, but sometimes farming reminds you that not every story gets a happy ending. The lamb was stillborn, and all I could do was be there—for the baby, and for its mama.

She cleaned her lamb perfectly.
She stayed close.
She did what a mother is meant to do.

And then came the hardest part—listening to her call.
That searching, hopeful sound as she looked for the baby that would never answer back. There are few things more heartbreaking than hearing a ewe cry for the lamb she lost.

Moments like this don’t show up in the highlight reels of farming. But they are real. They are heavy. And they stay with you.

Farming is beautiful.
It is meaningful.
And sometimes… it is unbearably hard.

This sweet mama sheep needed a bit of help at first accepting her newborn lambs. With some patience, encouragement, and hands-on care, something beautiful happened—mom and babies found their rhythm 💕

Now she’s loving on her lambs like a pro, and the babies are happy, healthy, and thriving. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do—sometimes all it takes is time, support, and a whole lot of heart.

Welcome to the world, Cheddar and Gouda 🐑✨

💔 *A Hard Day on the Farm* 💔

Farming brings so much joy, but it also brings some of the hardest moments. We’ve had our fair share of losses over the years—little lambs who didn’t make it, stillborn babies, or those who struggled to thrive. Every loss hurts… but this one hits especially deep.

Today, we said goodbye to one of our expecting ewes, Sammy. She was one of the very first girls we welcomed when we started this journey, and she’s been a sweet, steady presence in our pasture ever since. Losing her has left a real ache in our hearts, and our farm feels different without her gentle spirit.

We’re deeply saddened, but we’re also reminded that every experience—good and bad—teaches us something. We’ll learn from this, grow from it, and continue caring for our flock the best we can. Farming isn’t always easy, but it’s full of love, lessons, and hope.

Here’s to honoring Sammy, and hoping for brighter days ahead. 🐑🤍
