After a long walk in the city, Foreigner tucked between the chaos of 5th Avenue and boring 6th, is a small refuge in the middle of it all. I had spotted their beautiful gradient cups online and wanted to see them for myself.

The tiny, minimalist space, almost brutalist in feel, was packed with a mix of locals and tourists. No gradient cups this time, unfortunately, but instead a sharp black and yellow design that feels efficient enough, almost like a graphic nod to the iconic taxi colors. The barista was efficient and fast, yet still managed to top the drink with beautifully mastered latte art. Just a couple of minutes later, despite the long and busy line, we were already back outside with our coffees in hand.

Probably unrelated, but as I continued my walk my stomach suddenly staged an unexpected protest, sending me on a rather urgent detour. I couldn’t help, unfairly perhaps, associating the episode with the coffee. Not exactly the souvenir you hope to take away from a café visit. Sorry TMI. 😅 7/10

I tried a few in NYC but the one in South Williamsburg is one of those spots that feels instantly cosy, tucked near the bridge with that cinematic neighborhood buzz. The staff is genuinely friendly and the space has that warm vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer.

Their latte is balanced and smooth, the kind that feels effortless and comforting. And their cup design might just be one of the most elegant around: simple, refined, and perfectly aligned with the Butler aesthetic.

Only tiny downside: the food smell tends to stick to your clothes after a while… but for a good latte, a welcoming atmosphere, and that beautiful cup, it’s still worth the stop. ✨ 8/10

Birdee just opened inside the long-awaited revival of the Domino Sugar Factory, and as expected it’s very Williamsburg: all soft minimalism, exposed brick nostalgia, and very expensive. Yes, now $7 (before taxes and tips) for a tiny cappuccino, and same for the pain au chocolat (somewhere in France, someone is gasping for air 🇫🇷😵) But the space is lovely, the staff is warm, and the coffee cups design are simple but lovely. The coffee? Surprisingly great. Bold, well-balanced. So yes, it’s Williamsburg. It’s pricey. That said, it’s got a vibe. Almost feels like home (if home had $7 coffee and better lighting). I’ll be back on a weekday when the crowd thins out. 7,5/10

It feels like the AWOL Williamsburg crowd from the 2010s has all migrated here—glad to see they’re OK! Located ein one of these brand new Greenpoint buildings that disfigure the waterfront, my first visit at Rhythm Zero was great, but on my last trip, it felt a bit chaotic—not sure what happened. That said, it’s still a lovely spot to hang out, and the coffee holds up. Interestingly, the name is inspired by a six-hour endurance performance by Marina Abramović, reflecting the Serbian roots of the founders. It should have also inspired their cup design! 7,5/10

on Broadway has that minimalistic chic, Scandinavian-inspired look going for it. The barista’s really friendly, and their coffee is quite good. Plus, I’m a fan of their simple yet stylish logo on the cup. 7/10

While wandering through Manhattan, I stumbled upon this charming spot called . Sitting outside amidst the locals, I soaked in the essence of Tribeca’s daily life—a moment impossible to fully articulate but deeply heartening. The coffee was delightfully balanced, served in a lovely, floral-adorned cup. I look forward to coming back! 7.5/10.
