Hawthorn is flowering right now — and in North Alabama, that window is two to three weeks. Once it closes, it closes until next May.

This is one of the oldest heart medicines in the Western herbal tradition. Not a crisis medicine — a tonic. Something you work with over months to strengthen and steady the cardiovascular system. It has been given to the grieving, the heartbroken, and the emotionally exhausted across cultures and centuries. The old name for May blossom is hawthorn. The month is named for the tree.

If you have access to a hawthorn in bloom this week, gather the flowers and leaves while they are open. Dry them gently on a screen in a shaded space. What you gather this month you will use through the winter.

The full monograph — preparation methods, dosage, contraindications, and the full traditional history — is in The Stillroom this cycle.

The New Moon is here and the first issue of Reflections from the Evermore Path is live.

Fire Court 2026 — thirteen kids, nine doelings, a yearling who wasn't supposed to be in milk and produced an udder that stopped me in my tracks. Hawthorn is flowering right now and the harvest window is brief. Poison hemlock is in prime season and worth knowing before you walk your fence lines.
The full illustrated edition is linked below. The Stillroom — the members-only deep-dive space — is also open today.

Rooted in nature. Guided by wisdom. Lived by the cycle.

No photos from the chaos of today… it moved too fast for that.
So here’s the four girls who made it into the quiet after. šŸšŸ¤

Yesterday, Brownie gave us one strong little doeling.
Before I could even slow down long enough to capture her properly, today came in fast and full.

My son and his family pulled in just in time to step straight into it with us—
and together we welcomed three more doelings from Peaches.

Four girls in just over 24 hours.
Nine doelings and four bucklings for the season.

A doeling kind of year… and with all this ā™ˆļø Aries energy, these girls are already bringing a little extra fire.

In the middle of all that life, we also had some quieter moments…
one of Brownie’s babies didn’t make it, and our tiny kitten faded today despite our best efforts.

That’s part of this life too.
We celebrate the ones who arrive, and we hold space for the ones who don’t stay.

It was a full day. A busy day.
But more than anything… it was shared.

And that’s the part that stays.

Five tiny souls found their way here today.

Not planned.
Not scheduled.
Just… arriving in their moment of need.

That’s the rhythm of this place.
We prepare where we can,
and when life shows up anyway…
we make space.

The Farm Cat Project was never about taking in everything—
it’s about answering the ones we can with care, intention, and follow-through.

Tonight they are safe.
Fed. Warm. Held in the quiet between what was
and what will be.

And maybe that’s the lesson in it—
we don’t always control what comes into our lives…
but we can choose how we hold it.

Welcome to Evermore, little ones. šŸ¤

This is just the beginning.

New legs finding rhythm…
new energy learning where it belongs…
new life stepping into its space, one wild leap at a time.

You’ll be seeing a lot more of this in the weeks ahead—
as they grow, stretch, and become more of themselves each day.

This is what freedom looks like when it’s brand new.

No past to carry…
no fear to hold them back…
just legs learning they can fly.

Out here, in the open air—
they don’t just run…
they become.

Between the leaps and the wild little races…
there are these moments.

Quiet hands, warm bottles,
and the rhythm of trust being built one feeding at a time.

Out there, they learn the world.
In here, they remember they’re safe.

Both matter.

This weekend, the baby yard slowly became their world.

We started with just a few daytime moments…
a little sun, a little space, a lot of unsure steps.

And with each return, they went back out braver—
legs steadier, jumps higher, curiosity louder than hesitation.

Now they don’t just step outside…
they belong out there.

She lost three… just over two weeks ago.

We held space for that—quietly.

But somewhere in it… her story didn’t feel over.

Last night, she gave us one.

Not a replacement.
Just something that chose to stay.

The ones meant to be a part of things… find a way.

Welcome, little one šŸ¤

Some babies just… fully commit to mealtime

This little doeling is doing great—walking, bouncing, and keeping up just fine.

But when it’s time for a bottle?
She gets so focused on eating that her legs just… slide right out from under her.

Every time.

So we adjust.
A steady hand, a little patience, and we let her do her thing until she gets those few ounces in.

These are the small, quiet accommodations that come with raising bottle babies—
meeting them exactly where they are and helping them along the way.

And yes… sometimes that means snack time happens flat on the kitchen floor.
