Feathertide Hobby Farm

Feathertide Hobby Farm Welcome to our micro-homestead! Home of 757 Boers and our favorite blonde showman, Emmeline.

She’s active in the Chesapeake 4-H Livestock Club and her breeding project’s focus is bringing competitive show stock options to other families in the 757. 🐐

I hope my kids understand what an absolute village stands, and will always stand behind them. We stumbled into an unexpected opportunity to add a goat to our herd that epitomizes all of the things we want to work on this year. Wether bred, bomb genetics, muscle, power, and breeding. Only issue, she showed up two days earlier than expected in the middle of the night when I was on my way back from DC. So phone calls to the family network went out, cousin’s digging dog crates out the barn, grandparents loading up to a different pickup city than originally planned, and one crazy momma driving all across the state on her husband’s birthday 🫣🫣 Our new little girl and momma rolled into the driveway at 8:45am after a car nap and a Red Bull. Name and pictures to come. We are so grateful for the breeder, hauler, and village that made this possible for 757 Boers to take the next steps in our program. 🐐

New for the markets this weekend! We’ve got some beautiful African (aka Mexican) Marigolds potted up in 1 gallon pots. They’ll be $4/each at the Friday Market and Waterway Market at Great Bridge Village on Sunday. You can find them Bluebird Holly Farm’s tent alongside her beautiful fresh cut flower arrangements. 💐💐💐

We’ll definitely have some more bumblebee cherry tomatoes and the walking onion bulblets. Likely won’t have more green peppers until next week when the rain stops 😂 Those babies like the heat! 🫑 🍅 🧅

Sent some bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, Egyptian walking onion bulblets, and orange hat tomato plants to the market for a trial run! Grateful for our lovely friend Stacy at Bluebird Holly Farm for ferrying our goodies! She has the most beautiful fresh cut florals that I’ve ever seen!
Very pleased with the foot traffic and all the other lovely vendors! Hoping to make this a regular event for us at the Waterway Market at Great Bridge Village.

Love to see such a fantastic market growing in our community. Thankful that Bluebird Holly Farm hosted some produce and plants for us today while we finished up at the ball park. Too funny the tour video caught Emm in her uniform for the few minutes we were able to swing by. 🥎 🍅 🧅 🫑

Anytime you’re keeping livestock, it’s not a matter of if losses will strike your flock/herd but just a matter of when it will hit. It always seems to be when we least expect it. We were so excited to introduce our newest babies to yall. We made a run home to the mountains over the weekend where we dropped off a load of quail and picked up three beautiful Muscovy ducklings from Happy Hill Top Hens. Unfortunately before we could introduce them a huge black snake got into their run and took one from us.

Fly hi Eloise. We hope you’re snacking on lots of bugs up there. Your sisters Daphne & Violet miss you terribly. 💔💔

🚨 All Claimed🚨
I hardly ever post mature quail as they’re typically scooped up quickly or held back for breeding so these ladies & gents are a big deal.
I’m pulling out some specific color genes from our covey so we can downscale a little bit and focus on specific projects. 🐐

Posting them in color groups and would prefer that the groups go together… these are first come first serve.

We have an abundance of mature roosters that are ready for a covey of their own. Let us know if we can help fix your hen to roo ratio 😉 🏷️ $5️⃣ / roo
