Wild Onion Market We are a cooperative of individuals united by our commitment to healthy food access for all, a resilient local food system and environmental stewardship.

Wild Onion Market is an independent, democratically run, community-owned full-service grocery store (food co-op) at 7007 Clark St., Chicago, serving the Rogers Park/West Ridge/Evanston and surrounding areas. Wild Onion Market will soon be a vibrant grocery store where we can make choices that reflect our shared values; where we cultivate strong relationships with the food we eat, the people who produce it, and our community as a whole. Our food co-op will specialize in local, organic, natural, fairly traded and sustainable foods and packaging.

It's National Co-op Month! Celebrate your local Co-op Wild Onion Market and farmer Co-ops around the world by buying Equal Exchange products.

I wanted to feature Equal Exchange today because they are celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year. They've focused on improving the supply chain in an equitable manner, so farmers can earn a living wage and have access to an infrastructure that isn't built to take advantage of them. We carry a lot of Equal Exchange in the store. My favorite are the dates. They are some of the best I've had.

NEW AND EXISTING MEMBERS!! Member Orientation is happening again. This Sunday, 10/18 from 1-2:30pm. Come have some samples from local vendors, bring your questions learn some of the Wild Onion lore, and meet fellow owners.

Third, be on the look out for an ofrenda in the store. What's an ofrenda? It's a part of Mexican culture that is made to honor those we have lost in our lives. We are setting up an altar. As a part of our community, feel free to bring in pictures of those you've lost as well as an item they may have enjoyed. We will have battery-powered candles for the altar.

Libra Season is here! Let's make it one to remember at the Wild Onion Market.

First, starting tomorrow, October 5th, come in and get your Wild Onion Wanderers Neighbor Passport!

Second, join us for Fermentor Fridays on Friday, October 9th from 6-8pm, at Monarch Community Market and Cafe (across from Wild Onion Market) for an exploration of the science behind fermentations.

ChiTown Bio will bring petri dishes showing cultures from bacteria strains in fermentations. Get samples from Ekaloka Fermentory, my own fermented mustard, water kefir, and more, as well as ChiTown Bio's ginger bug drinks. Looking forward to this event!!

Only joking! We love our community at Aville Grows, who was our Change for Change partner during the month of September. All month, your spare change helped support a local, free community garden in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.

Local flowers from Bee Cool Honey Farm are back! 🌸🌷💐

…and so are Italian plums, huckleberries, Parfianka pomegranate, Concord grapes, and Niagara grapes!

Pomegranates are from San Gabriel Ranch, plums and huckleberries from Seedling Fruit, and grapes from Mick Klüg Farms!
