FarmedHere FarmedHere® An organically-certified indoor vertical Hydroponic farm in Bedford Park, IL

By the year 2050, the global population is expected to exceed 9 billion. The amount of arable land is decreasing due to poor management practices and there currently isn’t enough left to feed this many people. FarmedHere® addresses this food sustainability issue with an indoor vertical farm. Our aquaponic growing technologies save up to 97% of fresh water and allow us to produce organic food an av

erage of two- to three-times faster than traditional farming methods. Your food no longer needs to travel 1,200 miles before it reaches your plate. Because we grow locally at FarmedHere®, we create jobs in our urban community and greatly reduce our carbon footprint by eliminating long distance transportation.

We sent part of our FarmedHere family to St. Louis today to the National Organic Standard Board meeting to fight for the rights of farmers across the country. The bus left the farm in Bedford Park, IL at 3:30 this morning so we could make it on time and have our voices heard. Our growers have worked tirelessly perfecting our unique organic techniques, and we believe our customers deserve a local, organic option. We admire and respect the soil farmers who paved the way, but we don't think that the soil itself is what makes a grow operation organic. By 2050, 70% of the world's population will be in areas and will be harder and harder to come by. We need to continue developing organic hydroponic technology and work to reduce the carbon footprint the food industry is creating.

At FarmedHere we grow a lot of basil. Whatever we don't package fresh, we make into tasty dressings that can be found at Mariano's, Whole Foods Market Chicago, and Eataly Chicago. Let us know what you think of them!
