This series will likely not be my most popular, but it is by far the best series I have ever done. Here’s why:
No one can replicate the unique work and effort I have put into making these videos exist.
It’s years of working at restaurants that have won James Beard awards (Zahav) and Michelin stars (Elske). Starting as a server and making my way up to wine director/sommelier.
It’s pivoting to Slik, where I was public speaking, teaching everyday people about wine, and filming/editing videos with my face.
It’s the ability to not be ashamed when I publicly get things wrong, as seen time and time again with my blind tastings.
It’s the motivation and creativeness to write a book about wine labels, be sought out by literary agents and publishers, but having the courage to say no to a bad deal and going with a newer publisher (love u Peridot Publishing | Independent Publishing House).
Now that the book is complete, this series is a culmination of all those skills in play. Credibility, charisma, knowledge, persistence, and really just believing I can do it, even if I have bad days.
So thank you if you’ve been watching for a while, but a kiss through the phone to people who have bought a book. Sales is the data point alllllll these big dog retailers want to see. I can make a post about Publishing world but all I’ll say is, there’s a reason publishers will take 90% net profit. It’s because they know they sold the power of sales through distribution channels.
F**k that noise, this is what it’s all about. I’m proud as hell of me and this is my greatest contribution to my self worth.
