When hunger strikes, the Half Acre kitchen is here for you. Whether it’s chicken or veggie, you can’t go wrong setting up in the taproom or out in the beer garden with some skewers, a scoop of rice, and a side of sauce to make way for the weekend. Alongside our Piece Chicago collaboration, a fresh pilot-system beer makes its taproom debut this week. Proenneke (pren-uh-key) is a draft-only West Coast IPA pouring today. Look up Dick Proenneke for context. Cool guy.
The beer keeps one worn boot in the amber-lit, pine-heavy IPAs of the mid-2000s while stepping cleanly into the dry, concentrated hop world of now. Orange marmalade flashes before settling into pine sap, resin and warm baked-pretzel malt. Clear, light amber and absolutely ripping at 7% ABV.
Proenneke IPA and Soft Stars, Hard Thunder Pale Ale are both pouring exclusively on draft in the taproom while they last.

Soft Stars Hard Thunder Pale Ale is a collaboration with Piece Chicago, one of Chicago’s classic brewers. Celebrating 25 years making beer in the city, Piece continues to brew delicious, awarded beers served alongside New Haven style pizza. In a time when things change fast, and places turn over, it’s comforting that Piece continues to thrive. The beers — The Weight, Golden Arm — certify that great beer endures — turn-by-turn at the skilled hands of Cutler, Keil and now Anthony. A big credit to Bill and team for delivering all these years. Brewed with Piece’s House Ale strain, Soft Stars Hard Thunder is a tasty pale ale dry hopped twice. First with Crystal and Zumo, then Cashmere, Krush Cryo and Idaho 7. Just a snappy pale ale packed with flavor and buckets of aroma. Tough to beat.
