French at DePaul

The Department of Modern Languages and French Program would like to extend the most enthusiastic bienvenue to the newest faculty member in French, Dr. Fara Taddei!

Dr. Taddei has joined our academic community as Professor of Instruction in French. In Fall Quarter, she is teaching French 201 and French 341! 🙂

Before joining DePaul, Dr. Taddei worked and studied at UIUC (MA, French, 2016) and the University of Chicago (PhD, Romance Studies – Italian, 2025). Before coming to the US, she studied in Bologna, Lyon, and Paris.

Her research and teaching interests include language and humanities pedagogy, French and Italian literature, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Medical Humanities, Translation Studies, Art History, and Cinema Studies.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys being outdoors - hiking, gardening, or generally strolling around, preferably with her dog - as well as working out. She is equally happy being a couch potato, staying caught up with tennis tournaments or the latest TV show.

📢 New Fall Quarter Class Added!
Interested in understanding how public policy shapes society? PPS 101: Intro to Public Policy with Prof. James Rudyk has been added to the Fall Quarter schedule!
In this course, you’ll explore the historical foundations of policy analysis, key concepts, and major theoretical frameworks through the lens of socially constructed inequality and its relationship to public policy. Topics include immigration, social welfare, housing, labor, health care, criminal justice, and education.
🗓 Class Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays, 11:20 a.m.– 12:50 p.m.
📍 Location: Lincoln Park Campus

Want to know more about our time in Lyon, known as the gastronomic capital of France? It is also known as the home city of Paul Bocuse (1926-2018), one of the most renowned French chefs in history. (Sadly his Institut will be under construction in 2025).

Activities may include:
- A guided walking tour of Lyon
- A walking tour of La Croix Rousse (from poverty to gentrification)
- Exploring the famous Halles Bocuse
- Visits to museums and churches
- Dinner in a bouchon restaurant, which is a traditional lyonnais restaurant)
