Congratulations to all of the kids who earned ribbons at Pike Co today—you should be proud of the hard work that brought you to this moment. Your accomplishments are well deserved!

I also want to recognize the kids who walked out of the arena without a ribbon. I know that disappointment can be hard, especially after pouring your heart into your project. Please don't let one show make you forget everything you've accomplished. You still cared for your animal every day, learned new skills, made memories, and had the courage to walk into that show arena and give it your all.

The best showmen aren't defined by the ribbons they win—they're defined by their character, sportsmanship, determination, and the way they keep showing up.

Every one of you represented 4-H well, and every one of you has something to be proud of. ❤️ 🐇

All of your hard work and dedication have led to this week. No matter how you place, be proud of everything you’ve accomplished. Enjoy every moment, support one another, make new memories, and most importantly—have fun!

💥 HEAT WAVE INCOMING 💥
It is so important to keep your rabbits cool in this sticky weather. Here are some helpful tips to ensure the health of your rabbits throughout the summer, especially when temps are above 80*.
• Ensure your rabbits are in the shade all hours of the day.
• Provide fresh water frequently, add ice to water dishes (rabbits love to lay against cool water crocs).
• Ensure proper ventilation, you may need to add a fan.
• DO NOT HANDLE YOUR RABBITS IN THE HEAT, they over-exert very easily.
• Feed in the early mornings when it’s cool (rabbits won’t eat much when it’s hot).

‼️ If you choose to add ice bottles, frozen tiles (or any other added cooling method) to your hutch/cage it is imperative you check them frequently…just like water dishes, if left too long, they become small heaters and are counterproductive.

THANK YOU everyone for supporting Bristol again this year, and trusting us to provide your kids with quality meat rabbits.

We had a very successful spring breeding season here at our (not so little anymore) rabbitry! Bristol was able to provide 35 kids with their market rabbit projects this year - reaching Ross, Pike, Vinton and Jackson Counties.

While some may see just a couple months of work breeding, kindling and raising kits to weaning…it’s actually a 365 day event. From getting up early to feed before school, providing fresh water every few hours in negative temperatures, planning litters, doing routine health checks, and shoveling p**p in 100* - she’s done all the hard stuff. We’re really proud of her hard work and dedication!
