Another good registered Angus bull in our lineup is D/G Top Game 5N.

We used 5N as the cleanup bull on our young cows this spring and are really excited about the progeny. He stems from one of our top productive cow families and his Dam is a power cow.

Spring calves are weaned, fall calves are hitting the ground, cows are sorted, & we got a little rain! Life is good!

We’re getting calves weaned and moving some cows around as we work through the drought.

Utilizing the nose flaps also helps us manage stress during weaning by making it a multi- step process. The calves can stay with the cows an extra week.

Weaning is already an important management step, but in conditions like these, it becomes even more important. Taking the pressure off the cows allows us to better manage their nutrition and condition while giving the calves a chance to focus on the next stage of growth.

We keep on keeping on over here!

💨Dusty and dry out there. We haven't caught any rain in weeks and the grass is 🌵crunchy🌵

We didn't quite make it out of August before we put out the first roll of hay, but good cattle management means making adjustments when conditions change, even when those adjustments involve a lot more hay, diesel, and sweat than we had planned for.

The cows may not understand the drought, but they certainly understand the sound of a tractor bringing hay.

One bale at a time.

Guess the hay we bought from Bradley Brand looks a whole lot better than the dry crunchies out in the pasture!

I don't blame you girls, a hay buffet looks good, but moderation is key 😉
