A few little things happening around the homestead lately.
I made my first batch of homemade nut milk and decided that if I was going to do it, I might as well make it interesting. So coconut pecan milk it was. It’s rich, it’s nutty, it’s slightly sweet and definitely something I’ll be making again. There’s something so satisfying about learning how to make something you’re so used to buying at the grocery store. Mind you… it only took 5 minutes with the The Plant-Based Milk Maker I acquired on Facebook Marketplace.
And then there’s the bouquet. My garden gave me my first Teddy Bear sunflower this season, and I am absolutely in love. It’s so fluffy and golden it almost doesn’t look real. I can already tell that Teddy Bear Sunflowers have earned a permanent place in next year’s garden.
P.S. - A little thrifting and DollarTree magic made its way into the background too. The vase is thrifted and those fluffy little stems inside came from Dollar Tree.
P.S.S. - Making a home feel beautiful doesn’t have to mean buying everything new or even expensive.
And finally, the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks have officially come off the shelf because Cookbook Club is Monday! I’ll be making two Ina Garten recipes this month and after flipping through these books trying to decide what to make, I have learned one thing with absolute certainty: that woman LOVES fennel.
Are y’all fennel people or are you just skipping every Ina recipe that calls for it?
