A few years ago we planted peanuts to feed our hogs. The decision was a great one. Peanuts are a high yield crop, left our ground more nutritious and provided our hogs very nutrient dense food.
This year, we decided to do it again, with a twist. Lyle and Case are huge peanut butter fans and I (Allyson Jarboe McClellan) started making our own peanut butter to cut back on the unnecessary junk they add to it. I mentioned to dad (Walter Jarboe) the idea of bringing back the peanuts to benefit both us and the hogs and today he made it happen! We spend a few hours this afternoon planting peanuts.
Welcome to Lyle and Case’s peanut patch! How cool is it that we will soon be eating peanut butter from peanuts harvested from our farm? AND pork that have been raised on our own corn and peanuts!
There’s a saying that says “you are what you eat, and what you eat, eats” so knowing that we are not only giving ourselves the best quality food, but also our animals and customers is a great feeling!
