#TheMoreYouKnow...

I've recently had several people inquire with me wanting to know which foods are best options of #superfoods for #brain health, so I thought I'd post here to share my thoughts. While there are many options, my #1 recommendation is #avocado, and #2 is #blueberries.

๐—”๐˜ƒ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ผ is a tremendous source of healthful unsaturated fat, which is said to support the brain. Monounsaturated fatty acids have neuroprotective abilities, helping protect glial cells (astrocytes) in the brain, which provide support to information-carrying nerves. Additionally, eating monounsaturated fats may reduce blood pressure. Since high blood pressure is linked with cognitive decline, it makes sense consuming unsaturated fat in avocados, thereby reducing high blood pressure, may lower the risk of cognitive decline.

Important to mention, avocados are incredibly nutritious and contain a variety of nutrients, including 20 different vitamins & minerals. In a single avocado: 26% of the daily value (DV) of Vitamin K; 20% DV of Folate; 17% DV of Vitamin C; 14% DV of Potassium; 14% DV of Vitamin B5; 13% DV of Vitamin B6; 10% DV of Vitamin E. It also contains amounts of Manganese, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, and Vitamins A, B1, B2, and B3. Additionally, avocado is heart-healthy, promotes eye health, supports lower cholesterol levels, and is chock-full of antioxidants โ€” a superfood indeed!

Eating half an avocado every other day should be an easy enough goal to reach. That said, I suggest eating 2 avocados per week to be ideal. Adding avocado to salads & sandwiches can likely lessen meal portions, as the fat & fiber help you feel satisfied and keep you feeling full longer, which should result in eating less and subsequently maybe even promote weight loss.

๐—•๐—น๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ increase blood flow to key areas of the brain, aiding improved memory and attention to required tasks, and boast both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Reduced inflammation reduces the risk of brain aging and neurodegenerative disease, and antioxidants have been found to aid communication between brain cells. Polyphenols (anthocyanins) found in blueberries have been shown to increase signaling in brain centers associated with memory as well as improve how the brain gets rid of glucose, both of which may help slow memory decline. Studies find Vitamin C can potentially prevent Alzheimer's. Flavonoids found in blueberries not only help reverse oxidative stress and prevent neuronal damage but have also been linked to increased stem cell proliferation and adult neurogenesis in the brain's hippocampal region โ€” which essentially means brain cells are being regenerated!

Blueberries are known to boost immunity and can reduce the risk of diabetes, obesity, and heart diseases. Consuming blueberries strengthens the metabolism, combating metabolic syndrome & deficiency. I suggest eating 2 cups of blueberries daily to be ideal.

๐Ÿค“ That's my short answer. ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ™ƒ โ€“ Jai

Jai Mcfall, America's Real Deal Preview

CHICAGO โ€“ The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages everyone to "Celebrate a World of Flavors" in their meals while still eating nutritious foods and beverages during National Nutrition Monthยฎ 2022.

Mealtime is a wonderful time to connect with your friends and family and eat a healthful mix of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats and lean proteins,

The 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends those 2 years and older limit added sugars and saturated fat in their foods and drinks.

Healthy eating does not have to be an all-or-nothing approach. One meal does not make or break a personโ€™s health
It's what you do most of the time that matters. "Find creative, healthful and nutritious ways to add flavor to your meals while eating less sodium, saturated fat and added sugars."

Things to Watch Out about Purslane; it contains oxalates, which have been linked to the formation of kidney stones.
People prone to kidney stones should be careful when eating purslane, especially the seeds. Purslane seeds tend to have higher levels of oxalates than other parts of the plant.
Purslane also tends to be saltier than other vegetables because of its succulent nature. People who prefer low-salt diets should watch their purslane intake to avoid consuming too much salt.

How to Eat Purslane: Purslane can easily be found outdoors during the spring and summer in most parts of the world. The plant reproduces easily and can survive harsh growing environments, so itโ€™s often spotted between cracks in the sidewalk or in untended gardens.
Any purslane plant can be harvested and eaten, as the leaves, stems, and flowers are completely edible. When preparing wild purslane, itโ€™s important to wash the plant carefully to ensure that no pesticides are on the leaves.

Purslane is tart and a little salty, making it a great addition to salads and other dishes. It can be eaten raw or cooked. When added to soups and stew, it thickens the broth nicely.

Here are some ways you can include purslane in your diet:
โ€ข Add purslane to soups
โ€ข Sautรฉ purslane as a side dish
โ€ข Chop purslane and add it to salads for color
โ€ข Mix purslane into grilled vegetables
โ€ข Use purslane as a garnish
Thats all! Let me know if you enjoyed this and if you are planning on getting Purslane.

I do have some in stock , I invite you to visit my nursery at 206 Pennsylvania Ave Unit A , Clearwater, FL 33755. Our hours are Saturday and Sunday 9-1p.m. and by appointment during the week. Be well, love Jai.

Last week my computer took a vacation. So I had to also. This week I am going to tell you about Purslane which is a common weed worldwide.

Because itโ€™s considered a weed doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s worthless. In fact, this salty, slightly sour plant has impressive health benefits.

Here in Florida we can eat it all year long and is a beautiful plant. The leaves and flowers are edible

Purslane has vitamin A, minerals, and antioxidants that can provide important health benefits. For example, vitamin A helps your eyes remain healthy as well as improve your immune system

Vitamin A is also critical to the health of your organs because it supports healthy cell division.
More tomorrow.

Conventional farms spray crops with pesticides, fungicides and herbicides . This is really scary as chemicals have become โ€œthe accepted way to grow foodโ€ rather than bring the soil into proper mineral balance as needed.

Every system in our body needs minerals to properly function. Eating foods that lack minerals results in our bodies also being mineral deficient, so our bodies cannot function properly and that is why our country is so sick! The USA has the highest rate of disease on the planet!

You do NOT want to subject yourself nor your family to the dangers they present. Many of you know this and you have decided to take control of the health of you and your family and to grow your own food. That is a very wise decision and we can help you.

01/14/2022

How can you create healthy cells in your body and get healthier?

Healthy cells are made from healthy food which is organic, natural & fresh. What is food? It is what nourishes our bodies and gives us natural energy, not processed foods full of toxins and lacking minerals.

Avoid: non-organic dairy; table salt; sugar & white flour and non organic bread.

And eat more organic vegetables that contain all 8 essential amino acids: organic carrots; broccoli family; corn; cukes; eggplant; kale; Okra; peas; potatoes; summer squash; sweet potatoes; tomatoes and bananas.
