The American Royal and the jack helper recap!
What a way to go BIG these past two weeks at some of the biggest competitions in the country!
For the royal we teamed up with Buckeye Flavor , Feathered Fire BBQ , and Engine 2 BBQ for our cook and we turned in some great food!
Highlights were Joshs 9th place veggie call and getting to hear our name called! We also got a perfect 180 cheesecake by - second year in a row!
Our brisket got 70th, with our pork, chicken and ribs getting great scores but in a field of 360, you have to also have some luck on your side to hear your name called. We ended up 155th out of 360 for the event!
From there we drove home, reloaded and headed out to the Jack with Tire Smoke BBQ ! They asked me to help with the Chefs choice and dessert and was happy to give a hand. Jeff and Luke are truly great people, Jeff's actually who showed me a proper brisket trim 🔥 and Lil Bear BBQ was along for the ride to give me belly laughs and epic story telling
For chefs choice, we did a white cheddar cooked on an Outlaw BBQ Smokers kid ringo, with a braised Hall of Fame Farms short rib in a red w**e tomato sauce. We loved it, judges weren't ready for it and that's my story and im sticking to it 😎
Dessert again was Mrs go bigs cinnamon roll cheesecake, just missing a 180 again with two 8s in appearance, but with perfect taste and tenderness on arguably the biggest stage in bbq, I couldn't be more proud of what she accomplished.
Tire smoke ended up 18th overall in the big dance at the Jack! What a field to be in! What a moment to witness for the rgc and gc calls!
We had some other big moments at both events but that'll be on the Mister Brisket, Inc. page.
If you would've told me this where id be even 5 years ago. I wouldve laughed but through hard work and surrounding myself with great people, here we are!
To my wife, I can only say in so many ways how appreciative I am for your support in being away essentially two weeks. I love you!
To all of my bbq friends, thank you for indulging me on this crazy journey, Gordon had to sit sh***un in a re**er truck for 30 hours! Your support does not go unnoticed!
And to Hank, foots on the gas! No slowing us down!
