Our hearts are incredibly heavy as we share the passing of our dear friend, Walt Wirth.
Walt was part of Pour wine + gifts from the very beginning. He helped us open our doors and, in so many ways, helped shape what Pour would become.
His knowledge of wine was exceptional, built over years of experience and relationships throughout the wine industry. But what made Walt truly special was the way he shared that knowledge. He was a generous mentor, always willing to teach, guide, make an introduction, or share a story—and he had an incredible ability to make people feel genuinely welcomed and known.
So many of our clients came to know Walt personally. He remembered what you liked, what you had talked about, and probably had an idea of what bottle you should try next. Those connections were never simply part of the job for him. They were who he was.
Walt appreciated the good things in life: good food, good music, good wine, and, most importantly, good people.
We are profoundly grateful that Walt chose to be part of building Pour. His knowledge, mentorship, relationships, and unmistakable presence are woven into the foundation of this shop, and they will remain here long after his passing.
Our deepest condolences go to Walt’s family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.
