Yes, this IS honey! Look at that color! We had a strong bloom of Goldenrod this summer and the bees capitalized on it putting away enough stores for them to use over winter and offering a little (over 100 lb) excess for us to enjoy. This honey has a bold flavor that will stand out in whatever goodies you choose to use it in.
Come pick up a jar or two this afternoon at the Republic Farmers Market in the Lowes parking lot between 4PM and 7PM. If a traditional mellow spring honey is more in line with your flavor pallet, we still have some available for purchase, however we are running low so come see us quick!

Look at the beautiful girl I found today! After spending several summers in southern Kansas, Oklahoma, and the panhandle of Texas, I have come to admire the dangerous yet stunning appearance of Black Widow spiders. Sadly I have not come across many here in Southern Missouri, it is always a treat when I stumble across one. This specimen was found while working in some weeds, she was relocated to a safer place for both of us.

We are excited to announce that we will have honey available for purchase today at the Republic Farmers Market in the Republic, MO Lowes parking lot from 4PM to 7PM today. Come on out and enjoy the first cool day in what feels like the better part of a month!

One of the things I find at 4AM that most people will never take the time to slow down and watch. Here we see a Yellow Garden Spider, a type of Orb Weaver, building her web for the day to come. Her movements are slow but deliberate. I couldn't help myself but to watch her work for the better part of half an hour.
Please excuse the sound of the quail, they were trying to get my attention because they wanted some late night snacks.

Look at that beautiful frame of honey! I got out early this morning and harvested close to 100lb of honey. I haven't tried any of it yet but it smells like its going to be some good stuff! I'm hoping to extract mid next week and have some bottled to sell at the Republic Farmers Market next Thursday afternoon.

The scent of drying Goldenrod nectar has filled the air in our apiary this morning. To some it is an off-putting scent, to me it is infatuating! It is a strong scent that let's me know the girls are packing on the pounds in preparation for winter, some are even making more than they need which means we will in all liklihood have some fall honey to offer up later in the year. It is much more bold flavored than the traditional spring honey and it isn't for everyone, however I find the strong flavors exciting making it my go to whenever I can get ahold of it!
