MY STORY---
Growing up, I loved watching my mom in the kitchen. The best days were when she made her delicious cakes, pies, old-fashioned seafoam candy, and fudge. That’s where my love for cooking and baking truly began. Every holiday, my Aunt Mary Catherine Would also bake and send us cakes like German Chocolate, Carrot, 7-Up, and Pound Cake. When they arrived, it was my job to put the icing on them. As I got older, baking became a way for me to share love with others. What started as baking for family gatherings soon turned into creating cakes for birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries. When I started my own family, life got busy, and I no longer had time to sell my cakes to the public—but I never stopped baking for those I loved.

A NEW BEGINNING
Then, my journey took an unexpected turn. I was diagnosed with Stage 2B Breast Cancer. During treatment, I had time to reflect on the things I had paused or dreamed of doing. It was then that I decided to return to my passion for baking. As soon as I was able to get out of bed, my new journey began. I started small—selling sweet treats like cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pancake mix, and more at weekend pop-up shops. From there, I began taking orders, officially creating my cottage food business registered in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

FROM OVEN TO FARM
About a year later, I took another step forward by converting my home into a small farm. I now grow many of the ingredients I use in my breads and treats—FREE FROM PESTICIDES. And yes, that’s where the chickens came in! I use fresh, hormone-free eggs from my own hens, and you can definitely taste the difference.

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY
Now, I am up and running and looking forward to sharing my talents with everyone. I’ve expanded my offerings to include pies and herbal teas, along with fun, in-home baking and cooking classes for friends and families. And this is just the beginning—there’s so much more to come as I continue to grow and share Daisy’s Sunshine Farm, featuring Kathy’s Delicious Cakes.
