I was so excited to spot an American beauty berry in my backyard — the first one I’ve ever found on our land. You can make a natural bug repellent from the leaves and a refreshing tea from the berries. I have made these items last year on someone’s trusted land with no chemical sprays.
I’m not just excited about the plant itself… I’m grateful to God, the Creator of everything, for what He provides right here at home.
I’ll be taking a biblical herbal class soon to learn more about the One who created these plants.

A little garden update from Turkey Oak Homestead… tomatoes are taking their sweet time to ripen, peppers are coming in slowly, and the rest of the garden struggled more than I hoped. But the herbs and flowers showed up beautifully, and I’ve loved harvesting those. It’s all part of the learning process each year.

A big, beautiful butterfly in the herb garden this past Friday afternoon…such a sweet reminder of Jesus’ words: “Come, follow Me, and I will show you how to fish for people.” Matthew 4:19. His creation always points me back to Him 🌿🦋
