It’s been another great day of living!

I saw last night that Hobby Lobby had Christmas crafts 50% off.
Well, I was going to meet a friend for lunch in Waco today so I left home early enough to stop by and peruse the goods!
I received a message from Chick-fil-A that I had a gift of a free iced coffee. I stopped and got that when I left town and it was yummy!
Hobby Lobby wasn’t quite open when I was nearing it, so I stopped at Aldi. I looked all in my purse and car for a quarter, but didn’t have one for the cart.
I was walking into the store and saw that a Good Samaritan had left one in a cart for me! I was so happy to see the tip of that quarter sticking out of the lock!
I ran down the aisles and gathered my goods, mostly things for grandkids!
I got to Hobby Lobby and found all kinds of good and easy crafts! I steered clear of the ones with glitter as much as I could. I try not to buy gift bags with glitter as well. It seems to get in and on everything!
I was really pleased with the selection I got. I missed this area the other day because it is farther back in the store and I was thinking about autumn crafts at the time instead of Christmas. Now, I’m ready for both!
I met my friend at Kitok’s Restaurant that features Korean and American fare.
When Ray and I went, we had Korean food, but I had heard all about their hamburgers being good.
We both got hamburgers and shared a 1/2 order of their Oriental Fries. Their fries are so good. They are also known as a bird nest!
We lingered at lunch and really enjoyed our time together.
I made a stop at Sam’s on the way home to pick up Spidey Book, Sticker and Ink set Christmas gift for our grandson. Im so glad they had it in stock, because it was unavailable online.
At lunch I got a call that our water was going to be off for a few hours because of a big leak. We will now have another water boil advisory in effect for the next few days.
Water was on when I got home, so I didn’t take a chance and have already had my shower for the night.
When our 3-year-old granddaughter was 2, she would lie down to rest on the couch and say she was “balaxing”. That’s what I am doing now! 😂

I went to Waco by myself today. I exited the Interstate at the Brazos River and drove through all of downtown as well as all up and down Franklin Ave, and Austin Avenue, looking to see what was new and to just enjoy the historic homes in the area.
I have a sweet spot for Austin Avenue. Our youngest son lived in a garage apartment on the corner of Austin Avenue and 25th Street when he was a senior at Baylor. It was the neatest little apartment.
I also went by to see Darwin the gorilla. He is still wearing his Independence Day outfit.
I was on a craft finding mission today. My granddaughters thrive on crafting! My grandson in Fort Worth, not so much! 😂 He loves action, but he has also become my game buddy and we love playing Blockus together.
Well, I struck out at Michaels for crafts today, so I decided to check out Hobby Lobby.
Wow! They have a massive wall of fun crafts and activities for Fall and Thanksgiving! I loaded up! I’m excited about this find today! Also, it was all 40% off!
I went by to see my son at his work and also went to Target. I had not been there in months and months. I found a couple of activities for my grandson there, including a monster activity book. I had a doctor checkup and got in and out quickly. That was a bonus!
I came home by driving by Lake Waco and my last stop was at Bath & Body works to use my coupon for a free item.
It was such a fun day!
I didn’t get to see any grandbabies, but it was school day for them.

Other than that, we have been low key lately. Ray has been on a tear, cleaning the garage and his closets. We donated several bags of his clothes today.
I’ve been just doing regular cleaning, as well as some much needed deep cleaning. We are still swimming every day, but the water was a bit cooler this morning. I wonder which one of us will be the one that can take the cold temperature the longest as autumn creeps in!

Saturday, October 17th is the date of the Tyler Rose Parade and Queen’s Tea this year. If you have never been, this is something you need to see! Here are my photos from the Queen’s tea when we went. We went to the parade that morning and it’s the best parade I’ve ever seen.
I was going to make hotel reservations for us this week and we discovered Ray is in a golf tournament in Granbury that day!

Well, I wasn’t expecting to go to Waco today, but when Ganny is needed, she goes!
Little Man had to go to the doctor, so I had fun with the girls. Even though he wasn’t feeling well, when he saw me, he called me Ganny for the first time!

I hurriedly packed my Ganny bag to take with me and put this Melissa & Doug vinyl set in it.
When I was their age, I waited every month for my Grandmother’s McCall’s magazine to arrive to I could get the Betsy McCall paper doll out of it. I loved paper dolls!
Apparently, my granddaughters do too! We played together with them and then I got their lunch ready and they kept playing in silence, each in their own world. My 3-year old made up songs to sing while she played.
They asked me if I could leave the set with them so they could play with them again later. Of course I did!

Well, at lunch, Adalee mentioned she broke her piece of bread. I told her that was alright and mentioned “breaking bread” together being a time to enjoy having food with friends and family.
I mentioned that Jesus said He was the bread of life and when we have crackers and juice at church, we do that to remember Him and the crackers were like bread. I thought that would be the end of it.
Well, 3-year old Ellie asked if that was a lie. I said that Jesus never told a lie. She said “Jesus said His body was bread! It wasn’t bread!”, and she giggled. I said, “Ellie, Jesus meant that as a symbol and an easy way for us to remember him. When we see a cross, we know it’s not the cross He died on, but a cross is a symbol to make us remember Jesus died for our sins.”
Her reply was that the juice wasn’t his real blood either! I had not mentioned that part at all!
Out of the mouths of babes!
I realized that this wasn’t the first conversation she had been a part of about The Lord’s Supper! Oh my soul! I was just there to play with paper dolls and not give a theology lesson! She was testing me because she had already discussed this with her parents.
My heart is singing with joy, knowing my grandchildren are being trained in the way they should go, so that when they old, they will not depart from it. I’m thrilled that they ask questions too. ❤️

We read books together and I gave both of them massages before nap time.
I didn’t want to leave!
Still, I knew Friday traffic would be bad. I started home and within 2 minutes I spotted an estate sale. I stopped for a minute, and also went by Dillards’s and found a couple of new fall tops.

All of this sure beat a day of staying home and cleaning house while Ray was golfing. I’d say I’ve had another great day of living.

Good Morning Friday!
We had to get ourselves up and moving today because Ray has a round of golf with friends planned.
We got here so early, the birds weren’t even singing yet!

I wishing for a change in the season this morning by making sausage cheese balls. I’m going to bag and freeze all of these to enjoy later.
I’m loving having today at home.
Ray woke me up at 6:30 for our swim and we have been productive all morning.
Next up for me is making fresh pico de gallo to go with chicken fajita quesadillas Ray said he is making for supper.
I watched the Golden Girls while making the sausage balls and found myself wishing I had Blanche Devereaux’s wardrobe! 😂 Seriously, I wish I did!
Now I’ve got Jenna and Sheinelle on the screen. I’m loving today at home!

Washi tape! Have your kids and grandkids discovered it? My granddaughters love it! It’s like a fancy masking tape used for crafting. These are binoculars my granddaughter made and decorated with washi tape.

Well, I got my appointments behind me and went to spend time with my grandbabies before and after each of them. I would have spent the whole day, because my daughter had to attend a funeral for her school mentor this afternoon, but my son told me to go on home, and he would take care of things.
It was so good to see everyone. Of course we did crafts! Those girls love crafting more than anything else!

I had written each grandchild a note and while they weren’t looking, I hid them under their pillows to find at nap time.
Well, while I was at the dentist, my granddaughter decided to make her bed! She found her note and the hunt was on for the others! I try to write them often because they love notes and cards! We mailed the Fort Worth crew their cards yesterday.

The sun wasn’t even up when I left home this morning. As I passed the Curtis tank on I-35 this morning, I noticed fog on the water. For a moment, I was so excited because I thought cooler weather had arrived. My friend’s grandmother Ina, used to take Michelle and me fishing and swimming at that tank when we were kids, so it is really special to me. I always notice it when I pass it on the interstate.
Well, one more mile down the road I realized it was not fog, but smoke from the fires in Bosque county! My heart sank! I believe Bosque county has some of the most beautiful land in Texas, and the thought of it burning, breaks my heart! I pray we get rain soon and relief from this season of heat and fire.
Let me tell you, after spending a couple of weeks up north, I just cannot get acclimated to this heat. Today zapped me! We didn’t have time to swim before I left this morning, so we went late this afternoon. The water was so nice, but now, it’s only 6:30, and between the heat, the swim and a long day, I could go to sleep right now!
I decided to write you this long post instead!
What about you? How was your day? Did you call a friend?

09/16/2026

Good morning friends! I have a favor to ask you today.
I just arrived in Waco today. I’m spending time with my grandbabies and also have 2 appointments.
One of our dear high school friends passed away and is being buried today. It hurts that I will not be there.
What I’m asking of you is to call someone dear to you that you haven’t spoken to in a while. Just check in on them and catch up. That’s all I ask.

Well, I’ve got to run. I’ve got 3 grandbabies waving at me from the front door! Enjoy this day! ❤️
