What's Next?

As I make major moves in building up and creating The Birth Place, I've found a gig that helps support my family financially still. Birth Assisting!

Birth Assisting is a great way for me to still be involved in attending births and fueling my passion for families. But it also allows me the time needed to work on everything needed for The Birth Place.

I've been invited on to birth assist Andrea Roltgen at In The Vine Midwifery and I couldn't be more thrilled! Andrea and I met years ago, serving a mama who was undergoing a pregnancy loss. Her heart has always been one that I admire and adore. I am so excited to be assisting at births with her and in her practice! What a blessing!

Thank you to the folks who joined us for the Pregnancy & Infant Loss Vigil last Saturday! We honored almost 100 babies in our hearts release and lit candles in honor of precious lives gone too soon.

You might be wondering ... what's next for Bekah?

Well before I shut down this page, I figured I would clue you all in!
I will still be actively working in the birth community. Amie Storm with Serenity Midwives has hired me on as a Birth Assistant. This means that I will be assisting her at home births in the area, which I am pretty jazzed about! It's been an amazing experience, being on Amie's team. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for her practice, and I am so blessed to be a part of it.

Thank you doesn't even begin to cover it!

It is with deep gratitude that I announce I will be closing this page at the end of October. As my time as an active working birth doula has come to a close.

Thank you to the 646 Followers who have joined me in this space! It has been an absolute joy and honor to be welcomed into your birth spaces, homes and hearts.

If you'd like to continue to watch this journey of mine, you can catch me making waves over at The Birth Place - CDA pages on IG and FB. As well as the Deep Waters Bereavement pages.

The heart of Homestead Mama Birth Services will always remain mine. Opening this business was a massive undertaking. Thank you for coming along for the ride with me, for supporting me and encouraging me in the journey.

As I enter this new phase in creating a 501c3 non profit, I will always cherish my time as a birth doula and remember the lessons that the profession taught me. I will always have the heart of a doula. A woman who serves. I will just be serving in other capacities!

With Sincere Love,
Bekah

Thank you to everyone for an amazing Birth & Baby Fair on Saturday!

FYI to the vendors: I am working on sorting through all of the photos that our amazing photographer captured. There is alot of them! I'm putting them in files by business (there were 47 of you!), and then I will get to emailing those to you.

Please have patience with me as I accomplish this. I am still caring for my 3 children full time, homeschooling, running a farm, and corresponding with clients for my own businesses.

You will also be receiving an after action survey, where you'll have the chance to give me any constructive criticism or notes that you'd like to communicate!

Thank you for your commitment and dedication to serving our amazing community! 👏

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the doula take the place of the birth partner? Or in other words, I don't need a doula if my husband/partner is attending the birth with me?

Answer: The doula is separate from your husband/partner and serves a completely different role. The doula's role is to bring you and your partner together during your birth experience. She brings with her training and knowledge on comfort measures, fetal positioning, the stages of labor (both physically and emotionally), and alternative modalities during labor.

When will you join me in labor? And when should I call you?

I usually tell my clients to call or text me when they think labor has begun. This can be different for each woman, as you may experience contractions first, or your water may break with no sign of contractions. I will join you whenever you feel a need for the extra support. Some first time moms prefer I join them earlier in labor, other moms will prefer I meet them in the hospital after they are in active labor.
