More progress on the barn stalls. Going to put vertical 2x6's on the bottom of the end fence as well. Fence is made out of old spruce 2x6's that I sanded down with a rough grit palm sander.

It’s always the favorite.

Last week we sent ten little roos to their new home, keeping two. The kids named this guy Tamatoa because he’s 🎼sHiNy🎶.

Yesterday I found him slumped on the coop floor, stargazing.

The most common causes of wry neck in chickens are trauma, disease (like Marek’s…😖), or a simple vitamin deficiency.

He doesn’t flinch or react in pain when I adjust his position. He’s bright-eyed with no other obvious symptoms. My best guess (hope!) is a deficiency in Vitamin B & Selenium.

Last night & this morning he happily drank a mixture of water & vitamin gel. At my midday check he was standing and slurped up a bit of egg yolk, along with more water. 🤞🏻 All good signs! Hopeful that I caught this guy in time and he continues to improve.

Of the twenty one chicks hatched, we believe there are at least seven cockerels. (Still a couple of toss ups!)

Tony has chosen a black and white barred roo to stay. I thought my choice was the guy with the barred neck & yellow legs. But, as their colors have developed I’ve fallen in love with this little one with brown coloring.

We will keep two males, with the rest going to live their best yard bird life as pest control. ❤️
