Maui was pretty lame. She had an abcess that created a very large sole ulcer. A couple months later she's all healed and the block was able to come off.

30 years ago I graduated from the the University of New Hampshire dairy program. It was nice to get back there and trim cows. Good people, good cows, and a good program.

This cow was pretty sore. The hoof was hiding a sole ulcer that had herniated through the hoof sole. A block was placed on the healthy toe to take the weight off the toe with the ulcer. A wrap with salicylic acid was put on the ulcer to help with pain and prevent bacterial growth.

Sometimes Oxen are too large for my chute. Thanks to Dr. Kit from Green Mountain Bovine Clinic for sedating these 6'2'' big guys.

This old trimming chute was at a farm I was working at this past week. Its not much different than the chute that I started out using. Chutes have changed a lot.
