Hollyhill Day Dream you have made my day. We are just weeks away from frost and you finally decided to bloom. It was well worth the wait.

It’s that time of the year! Time to hurry and tag all the dahlias before the first frost. This is where I confirm the plant is the variety I thought I planted so that once the frost comes I can still know what variety it is. I tie the tags to the bottom of the stalks so when I pull them out of the ground we still know who it is.

It was a cold & rainy morning in the garden this morning but these ladies showed up with a job to get done. I would guess over 1,000 flower stems left my garden this monring for Isabel and Haydens Wedding.

This garden spider is spectacular! I don’t love spiders but every year I get a pretty cool one that sets up home in my flower garden and I let it live out its days until the cold comes. This one has made its web right over top of these beautiful Mikayla Miranda dahlias. There is no way for me to cut them because the web it intertwined with those blooms.

Yesterday I carefully walked through my garden and made my selections for the NWMT Fair Dahlia show and this morning bright and early I delivered and set them up. Judging starts at 10:00AM. There were so many amazing blooms. I cant wait to see how they place.

Rhubarb & Custard is just the cutest when she opens perfectly like this! 🌸

She has been one of the most sought-after dahlia varieties for the past several years, with a single small tuber often selling for more than $50. Her blooms don’t always open this beautifully for me, and every once in a while, I consider taking her off my grow list.

Then she produces one absolute stunner like this—and I immediately reconsider! 😍
