Kirkland Family Farms graciously gifted me five turkey eggs that are a mix of Sweetgrass and a couple of other turkey breeds. I’m happy to report that all five hatched successfully! I only had to assist one poult during hatch, and it was a very easy intervention.

They’re all healthy, active, and doing great so far. I’m excited to watch them grow and can’t wait to see how they mature—hopefully I end up with a few females! 🦃❤️

Peanut delivered quail eggs to his cousin, Tula, today! He’s learning how to gather eggs in the aviary and is gentle around the hen quail. ☺️🪺

My sister also uses quail eggs in her homemade gourmet dog treats. These treats are made with oat flour, quail eggs, pumpkin, and blueberries, then finished with Greek yogurt icing and peanut butter frosting. 🦴🐶

This weather has been a welcome change after all that rain! ☀️ Getting more of the fencing up, the pastures are coming in thick after planting seed, my peonies, roses, tarragon, and woodland sage are thriving, and we even have apples coming in! 🍎 Now I just need to tackle all those lilac suckers hiding under the bushes 🥴🌿

I have a new layer that’s laying two-tone green eggs! I’ve never had a quail lay this color before. Now I just need to figure out who’s laying them!

And, of course, little photobomber Peanut is patiently waiting for his daily quail egg. 😆🥚🐶

Thankfully we didn’t get too much mud from all the rain. I did buy a few bags of these from Murdochs to try though. So far I like them better than the bigger pellets. Smells good too!
