Stopped at Soda Pop Junction yesterday, and it wasn’t our first time! Located at 141 Mill St, Lynnville, TN. It’s just a short, yet beautiful drive from Columbia, TN. This place is full of charm; as you walk in, it feels like you’re entering a gateway to the past. There is wood everywhere with ice cream shop style barstools, and old advertisement decorations on all the walls. They tell you to seat yourself, and you try to find the coziest booth or table you can. The one we chose was unique - one side was a booth seat, and the other side had some old-time movie theater seats.
After we were seated, the waitress came over pretty quickly and seemed very nice! I ordered the half-pound double bacon cheeseburger, my wife ordered the fried bologna sandwich, and we also got two kids’ cheeseburgers. Everything seemed like it was à la carte, so we ordered two baskets of fries on the side - one curly and one steak fry. It was nice to have options of different kinds of fries. They also had shoestring fries, but we didn’t think we needed three baskets of fries between two adults and two kids. Normally, when ordering kids’ cheeseburgers, places don’t give you options, but she allowed them to add whatever toppings they wanted, which was really nice. This place was really busy, and I was surprised by how quickly the food came out.
At first glance, I wasn’t sure about the burger. It looked like it had frozen patties due to the uniform shape, but after the first bite, I was very happy! You could tell it was cooked on a flat-top grill with lots of grease. This burger was juicy, flavorful, and I’m very certain it was over half a pound. I was only able to finish half of it. The fries came out perfectly cooked - both were great. I’m not a big steak fry person, but these were really good. I did get to take a quick bite of my wife’s bologna sandwich. I will say it was pretty thin. She doesn’t like thick sandwiches, though, so it was perfect for her. It had good flavor, but I personally would not order it. The girls loved their burgers as well.
The one thing I didn’t particularly like was that there was obviously a roof leak, and they had buckets on the ground. Pretty sure when I went there maybe a year ago, it was the same situation. Overall, it was a really good experience. Our total came to $53.50, not bad for a family of 4! The food was really good, and the atmosphere was exactly what it should be for a little hole-in-the-wall off the beaten path. It’s what I would consider a greasy spoon. Would I go back? Absolutely. This is one of those places that I keep going back to. Was it the best burger I’ve ever had? No. Was it a good burger? Yes, it was! The nostalgia in the place and just the atmosphere makes it a destination that’s not that far from home!
