Morning update on the baby chicks.
Morning check on the chicks after work.
Hens are funny sometimes. These are waiting for their turn in the nesting box. They have plenty of room to get inside, but they want their spot.
New chicks came in today. 4/24/2024.
Easter fun! I just want to pet it. Having a little good time with our friends and neighbors.
Our good ole Friend/neighbor showing us how to “Chicken hypnotism” by drawing a line. The chicken would stare at it. #chickenhypnotize
Our homestead farm is a simple and sustainable haven. We don't have running water or electricity, but we've found clever ways to manage. We collect rainwater in big drums and use solar panels for power. Last Sunday evening, as darkness fell, my husband noticed our chickens needed more water. He carefully transferred water to their coop's black drum using a small pump. To avoid overflowing, he cleverly attached a clear tube with a blue piece of paintbrush handle inside. This helped him know when the drum is full, to avoid wasting water. Our resourcefulness keeps our farm thriving in harmony with nature.
Collecting eggs while hubby is building my dirty kitchen
Weather is cooler here in lower Alabama to sleep at the Cabin. Kids and I spent a night at the Cabin to see what my husband do to take care of his hobby farm chickens. The kids enjoyed hunting & collecting the eggs and playing with the chickens.
When the automatic door opens each morning.
The morning routine. They are always excited when that automatic door opens in the morning!
The Free- Range hens!
Too hot today. The juvenile chickens are under the trees, coop, and away from the heat!
