What a whirlwind! We started out Show Me Show Off with the Junior Buck Show - our first ever buck show!

Stratton Creek C Striking Gold earned 3rd/3 under Dr. Paula Reisdorff and 2nd/3 under Karen Smith. Karen commended him on how long and stretchy he is. Striker did an amazing job for his first time in the ring.

Cade's Lil Farm WW Legend earned 3rd/4 in both rings and was commended on his length. He was a little unsure about the ring, but did a nice job walking and setting up for Clara.

Bramon Acres R High Spirits earned 2nd/4 in both rings and was commended on his depth of barrel and his dairy skin. He also earned Reserve Champion in Ring 2 under Karen Smith!! 🥳

You will notice there are no pictures of Legend or Spirit (my goal is to take some at home and get them posted) - that is because they were in the same class and I showed Spirit in both rings 👀 This was my first time showing goats and although I was super nervous, it was a lot of fun. I also showed Striker in Ring 1 because Clara needed a break from the long stressful day we had. I appreciate everyone who checked in on her - it was a nice reminder of the sweet community we have in the dairy goat world. 🫶

We continued on Saturday beginning with Showmanship. Clara earned 6th/11 under Dr. Paula Reisdorff, who said it came down to minor nuances of knowing the scorecard and body parts. Clara said she forgot where the stifle was and felt like that cost her points. She definitely knows now and will continue to learn and grow!

Bramon Acres SK Silver Glimmer wasn't competitive again. She needs some maturity, which makes sense since she was born April 15th, 2025, which is probably later in the season than most of the goats that she competes against. We will probably retire her from this year's show crew and try again next year with her 2nd freshening. Although, I have been so pleased with how her and Kalluna have bonded. Usually Kalluna doesn't like sharing stalls, but I caught her cuddled up to Glimmer several times.

Mathiot's Paradise PB Kalluna earned 6th/8 under Dr. Paula Reisdorff. The doe ahead had a body that blended more overall. She was commended on her dairy capacity. She also earned 4th/8 under Karen Smith and was commended on her fluid of motion, the capacity of her barrel, and the capacity of her mammary system.

Bramon Acres S Fabled Trinket earned 4th/4 under Dr. Paula Reisdorff who said she needs more maturity. She also earned 3rd/4 under Karen Smith who commended her on her ease of motion, dairy strength, and openness of ribs.

Bramon Acres R Velvet Dreams earned 9th/10 under Dr. Paula Reisdorff. She also earned 6th/11 under Karen Smith 🥳 She has started to become more comfortable with being at shows. I really think as she does and as the weather warms up, she will start placing better.

Overall, it was a great weekend and we really loved both shows. I think next time, for Clara's mental health and my own, if both happen on the same day again, we will have to choose only one.

We will have a break from showing this weekend and then we will be off to Neosho for the Boots N Buckle Youth Show and the Spring Fling Quad Doe Show! 🥳

Clara had an AMAZING time at Show Me Youth Dairy Goat Camp! She learned SO much (some of which she has already put to good use) and made lots of new friends.

She participated in the costume contest - she was a meadow and Kalluna was a butterfly. 🥰

She also made a research poster with her group over identifying ketosis and toxemia. She was the designated illustrator. Their group received 2nd place! She also received an award for most improved confidence. 🥳

Clara did so well in showmanship and really put all her newly found knowledge and skills to work. She is now in the Intermediate division and they were all complimented on being excellent showmen. It came down to being knowledgeable about specific details on the scorecard, and Clara was very happy for the kiddo who won. She was so impressed by her knowledge of how all the pieces connected to each other - which inspired Clara to do her own research to learn more!

At the Youth Show under Dr. Paula Reisdorff, Kalluna placed 3rd/6. The doe ahead of her had a better foreudder, but Kalluna was commended on her mammary capacity along with her length and depth.

Glimmer, Velvet, and Trinket weren't competitive yet. Glimmer was commended on being a very dairy doe and Velvet was commended on her length of neck and sharpness of wither.

We rushed from the Youth Camp over to the Show Me Show Off.. more details on that to come! 👀

Boon Companions Triple Crown Doe Show was a blast! No ribbons, but lots of lessons learned (for goats and Clara), new friends made, and quality time together.

Kalluna earned:
4th/12 in Ring 1 under Morgan Allen
8th/12 in Ring 2 under Kelly Martin
6th/11 in Ring 3 under Paula Reisdorff
She was complimented on her udder capacity, height of her mammary and its attachment, as well as her tight, smooth shoulders. She was lacking in general appearance compared to other does. She is a very angular doe as much of her energy goes into her milk production. I've tried adding oats to her feed mix (18% protein show goat feed/alfalfa pellets/goat granola/boss) to up her calories, but haven't seen results yet. We have tried Senior Horse feed in the past, but ended up having poor results with it. **If anyone has suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments!**

Glimmer, Velvet, and Trinket aren't competitive yet, but are learning how to be in the ring. It's much different being in a show environment vs walking around the driveway at home. I was so proud of how patiently and gently Clara guided them. A couple other parents commented on how great she did with them, which is always a sweet compliment to receive. I think my favorite pictures on this post are her giggling at Trinket's antics and her talking sweetly to Kalluna during showmanship.

Clara has freshly graduated to the intermediate division for showmanship (12yrs-15yrs) and did an amazing job presenting Kalluna and working with other goats that weren't hers. She needs to memorize the scorecard better and is already diving into learning more about breeds other than the Nigerian Dwarfs that we raise. It's so rewarding to watch her be challenged and grow. It definitely speaks to her focus and passion about showing.

We have a day of rest and then we will start prepping for goat camp, the youth show, and then Show Me Show Off - which will be our first show ever with our bucks!

Our first show of the year (and Glimmer and Velvet's first show ever) is complete! We started our day dark and early this morning at 3am and made our way to IL for the Goat To Be Kidding Youth Show that started at 10am. We finally made it home at 10pm.

It was so cold 🥶 but we made it through. The does didn't get clipped, but I thought they looked pretty fabulous anyways 🥰

No ribbons today, but it was a fun trip to get back into the swing of things. Clara did such a nice job in showmanship. I was so proud of her effort and the fact that she went up to the judge afterwords for a handshake and feedback.

Under Joe Pilotte:
Bramon Acres SK Silver Glimmer placed 5th/5 in Milking Yearling 1 Year and Under 2
Mathiot's Paradise PB Kalluna placed 4th/5 in Milking Does 5 years and older
Bramon Acres R Velvet Dreams placed 4th/6 in Doe Kid born on or after March 1st, 2026.

I couldn't hear what the judge said for feedback for any of the goats, but Clara said the main thing she remembered was that he didn't like how Kalluna wanted to put one leg forward and it meant that she was too narrow. This was not feedback we have had before, so we will definitely keep this in mind for future breeding pairings.

Bramon Acres S Fabled Trinket had an exciting day at A Child's House Home Preschool!

She made so many new friends, explored new surroundings, and was the star of the show! The kiddos galloped and jumped around the yard with her - which was oh so fun! Did we mention all the sweet cuddles and kisses? Trinket got them all to herself. 🥰 Who knew such a little goat could spread so much love?

Our younger babies playing (with a brief appearance from Glimmer) 🥰 I could sit and watch them all day.

Now that life has settled down slightly, we are super excited to announce that we welcomed Cade's Lil Farm WW Legend to our farm last week! His depth is amazing and our hope is that he passes that along with his phenomenal udder genetics to his kids. His dam, CH Cade's Lil Farm KH Winnie, is fantastic - her LA from 2025 is VEEE 91!

See more info about him here: https://bramonacresfarm.wixsite.com/home/cades-lil-farm-ww-legend

(We also brought home 2 does and will make separate posts for them.)

Tonight, Mathiot's Paradise M Maddy had.. triplets! 😆 2 bucks and 1 doe sired by Stratton Creek C Striking Gold 🥰

🥳 We are officially done with kidding season. 6 does kidded with triplets and 1 with twins.. giving us a grand total of 20 kids born this year: 10 does and 10 bucks!

✨️ Once Maddy has recovered and her kids find the springs in their legs, she will be available with her two bucklings to go to a new home. We are having to make some hard cuts this year and with keeping 3 daughters, 2 granddaughters, and 1 great granddaughter from her (which is a lot for our small herd), it's time to let her bless someone else's herd.

Her disposition is nothing short of perfect. She's so sweet and easy-going. She is definitely an unbothered queen.. as long as she isn't at a show. She hates them, so we don't make her go. She will hunch her back the entire time you walk her around the ring, but anywhere else, she walks on a lead like a dream. This is her 4th freshening, and all of her births have been unassisted and easy. She is the BEST momma. She's an excellent milker and stands gently on the milking stand, even when she runs out of food. She's an easy keeper and would make the perfect first time goat for someone. She would also make a lovely addition to an existing herd as she is unproblematic and has no ambition to climb the hierarchy ladder, yet she isn't a pushover either.
